We need to know each time you are contacted by the
news media or field a news media request.
Your support will enable us to:
• Assist you anyway we can
• Know beforehand about a story/article prior to it
being published or broadcast
• Apprise the Superintendent and others of upcoming
stories
Examples of requests from news media include:
• “Mundane” requests or ones that are seemingly trivial in nature
• Requests that will cast your school in a positive, favorable light
• Requests that can cast your school in a potentially negative, unfavorable light, show
vulnerability, report an incident or are controversial in nature
As always, the Community Relations Department is available to help you anytime
you are contacted by the media. If you are contacted by the media and feel you need
assistance prior to responding, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We can advise you and help you respond. In many cases, based on
the topic, we can also anticipate the questions they will ask. We
can help you formulate your responses. If you are unsure how to
accommodate a media request, it is best if you contact
Community Relations for guidance.
We are available by phone or e-mail. Following is the information that we
are asking you to communicate to us each time you are contacted by the
media. We have presented some examples of all three
scenarios mentioned above to help you see the type of
information we are seeking.
