Surveying Technology Option<br />

(130 credits minimum)<br />

The Department of Construction Management & Engineering Technologies alsooffers a Surveying<br />

Technology Option. The option includes 10 courses in land surveying (totaling 30 credit hours), 4 courses<br />

in mathematics (totaling 13 credit hours), and 3 courses in science (totaling 11 credit hours). This option<br />

has been designated as an “Approved Program” by the State of Indiana Board of Registration for Land<br />

Surveyors. The option alsohas been approved by the Land Surveying Licensing Board of the Illinois<br />

Department of Professional Regulation as satisfying the statutory requirements of a baccalaureate<br />

degree in a related science which includes 24 semester hours of land surveying courses.<br />

Leadership and Supervision<br />

The following are the Program Educational Objectives (PEO’s) for the<br />

Baccalaureate Degree in Organizational Leadershipand Supervision (OLS):<br />

Program Educational Objective 1:<br />

The program will produce graduates that are prepared for successful careers<br />

specifically in the areas of Human Resources, Safety, Supervision, and Leadership,<br />

and prepared to lead in their respective professions.<br />

Program Educational Objective 2:<br />

The program will produce graduates that will have the ability to work and lead<br />

successfully in diverse environments and teams.<br />

Program Educational Objective 3:<br />

The program will produce graduates that will have effective oral and written<br />

communication skills.<br />

Program Educational Objective 4:<br />

The program will produce graduates that will continue their professional<br />

development and be prepared to advance in their careers.<br />

Program Educational Objective 5:<br />

The program will produce graduates that will have the ability to apply the knowledge,<br />

skills, and abilities (KSAs), and perspectives necessary to make appropriate professional<br />

and ethical decisions with an understanding of global, societal, and contemporary issues.<br />

Program Educational Objective 6:<br />

The program will produce graduates that are prepared to developsuccessfully in<br />

leadershipand management roles in managing of people and projects in business,<br />

institutional, and technical settings. The Organizational Leadershipand Supervision<br />

(OLS) Bachelor of Science degree has as its primary function the key objective<br />

of preparing students to perform well in their first work-related professional level<br />

position, and to demonstrate their leadershipability within an organizational context.<br />

In support of this orientation, an in-depth academic program has been developed<br />

which blends theory about individual and grouphuman behavior with practical skills<br />

training. This integration is enhanced by a dedicated and work-experienced faculty, smallsize<br />

classes, and students who have “real world”exposure from their workexperience.<br />

The primary objective of Organizational Leadershipand Supervision Bachelor<br />

of Science degree, is to developthe philosophy, skills, and techniques required<br />

of successful, first-line leadershipin business, education, government, industry,<br />

and service organizations. OLS offers personalized areas of specialization that are<br />

practical, applied, and job-related; and best of all, tailored to the student’s interests.<br />
