Exposure to Physical Therapy<br />

In addition to prerequisite course work students must complete observational, volunteer or other work<br />

experiences in both hospital inpatient and outpatient physical therapy settings (minimumequivalent<br />

of one day, 8 hours) in order to appreciate the differences in physical therapists’ responsibilities in each<br />

setting. Each experience must be of sufficient length of time to enable the supervising physical therapist<br />

to adequately complete the IUDPT Program’s Generic Abilities Assessment Formincluded as part of the<br />

Preveterinary Science and Medicine Program<br />

The preveterinary science and medicine curriculumincludes courses that are required for admission to<br />

the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree programoffered by the <strong>Purdue</strong> <strong>University</strong> School of Veterinary<br />

Medicine. This programof study is coordinated by the College of Agriculture Office of Academic Programs<br />

in West Lafayette. The programemphasizes the biological and physical sciences that are foundations<br />

for successful study of veterinary medicine. Also, the curriculumincludes courses in communication and<br />

the social sciences. Therefore, the courses in this curriculummay meet to the admission requirements<br />

of other veterinary schools; however students need to consult with the admission requirement of the<br />

veterinary school, which they intend to apply.<br />

More than 40 programs are offered by the School of Agriculture, <strong>Purdue</strong> <strong>University</strong> West Lafayette.<br />

<strong>Calumet</strong> students may complete one-twoyears of study in these programs by taking coursework offered<br />

through the Department of Biological Sciences at <strong>Purdue</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>Calumet</strong>. Students can then transfer<br />

tothe West Lafayette campus tocomplete a bachelor’s degree. Requirements vary in different agriculture<br />
