Kebele, far from the health<br />

center. She worries about her<br />

baby’s health, so tries to keep<br />

him covered and out of the<br />

w<strong>in</strong>d. She is not sure what<br />

else she can do to protect her<br />

child, except go to the local<br />

healer if he gets ill.<br />

Group #2<br />

Almaz brought her baby one<br />

time <strong>for</strong> immunizations. Her<br />

baby had a fever and the area<br />

where he got <strong>in</strong>jected swollen<br />

and red. She doesn’t want to<br />

hurt her baby, so will not go<br />

back aga<strong>in</strong> <strong>for</strong> immunizations.<br />

Group #3<br />

Hiwot has brought her baby<br />

<strong>for</strong> immunization 3 times. At<br />

first she had heard rumors that<br />

children become ill after<br />

gett<strong>in</strong>g vacc<strong>in</strong>ated. The health<br />

worker told her this was<br />

noth<strong>in</strong>g to worry about and<br />

that gett<strong>in</strong>g the disease was<br />

much worse. So she kept<br />

com<strong>in</strong>g back.<br />
