• Fishing Interactions – Circle all of the<br />

interactions observed between the marine mammal<br />

and the fishing vessel.<br />

• Photos/ Video – Record the bar code number<br />

from the disposable camera and the frame number<br />

of the picture.<br />

• Trip number - Record the trip number generated<br />

by the database system.<br />

• Federal <strong>Groundfish</strong> Permit Number - Record the<br />

<strong>Groundfish</strong> Permit number if the vessel has one.<br />

Tip* - The Federal <strong>Groundfish</strong> Permit<br />

Number can be found on the online<br />

database, under Vessels – Vessel Information.<br />

• <strong>Coast</strong> Guard Document # - Record the USCG<br />

vessel number on limited entry trawlers and fixed<br />

gear vessels (if they have one). Do not record<br />

anything in this field if you are on an open access<br />

vessel or a limited entry fixed gear vessel that does<br />

not have a USCG number.<br />

• Silhouettes – On the back of the Marine Mammal<br />

Sighting Form, circle the silhouette of the marine<br />

mammal, which looks the most, like the marine<br />

mammal observed.<br />
