Chapter 4: AMI BIOS<br />

IDE Mode<br />

The following items are displayed when IDE Mode is selected:<br />

SATA (Serial-ATA) Controller 0~1<br />

Use this feature to activate or deactivate the SATA controller, and set the<br />

compatibility mode. The options for Controller 0 are Enhanced and Compatible.<br />

The default of SATA Controller 1 is Enhanced.<br />

AHCI Mode<br />

The following items are displayed when the AHCI Mode is selected.<br />

Aggressive Link Power Management<br />

Select Enabled to enable Aggressive Link Power Management support<br />

for Cougar Point B0 stepping and beyond. The options are Enabled and<br />

Disabled.<br />

Port 0~5 Hot Plug<br />

Select Enabled to enable hot-plug support for a particular port, which will<br />

allow the user to change a hardware component or device without shutting<br />

down the system. The options are Enabled and Disabled.<br />

Staggered Spin Up<br />

Select Enabled to enable Staggered Spin-up support to prevent excessive<br />

power consumption caused by multiple HDDs spinning-up simultaneously.<br />

The options are Enabled and Disabled.<br />

RAID Mode<br />

The following items are displayed when RAID Mode is selected:<br />

Port 0~5 Hot Plug<br />

Select Enabled to enable hot-plug support for the particular port. The options<br />

are Enabled and Disabled.<br />

SCU (Storage Control Unit) Configuration<br />

Storage Controller Unit<br />

Select Enabled to enable PCH SCU storage devices. The options are Disabled<br />

and Enabled.<br />
