By 1935, there were 30 ordained Annamese pastors<br />
and 85 unordained preachers and evangelists<br />
serving in the Annamese National Church. Most<br />
o£ these are married men whose wives are trained<br />
Bible women. All the congregations o£ Cochin-<br />
China are self-supporting. Seventeen others in<br />
Tonkin and Annam have also reached that stage,<br />
making a total of 63 churches which have full membership<br />
in the national body. They have their own<br />
church buildings, built with their own money. Their<br />
offerings for all purposes, during 1935, amounted<br />
to more than the equivalent of $10,000.00, U. S.<br />
currency.<br />
The new constitution divided the country into<br />
three districts, corresponding roughly with the three<br />
states in territory. Each district has a district con¬<br />
ference and sometimes an extra prayer conference.<br />
The National Conference meets once each year, but<br />
it is no longer confined to any one location. It is<br />
held in turn in all three districts, so that all may<br />
share its blessing. The congregation that invites<br />
it must provide suitable accommodation for the<br />
meetings and for the delegates.<br />
The vision of the churches has been broadened.<br />
They have a growing sense of responsibility outside<br />
of their own communities. Special projects have<br />
been undertaken by them in the unevangelized parts<br />
of their districts. A gospel boat is operated on the<br />
rivers of Cochin-China.<br />
