enough. It was most disheartening to the missionaries.<br />
Inquirers would come and go. New converts<br />
were won, but they were like those of whom Jesus<br />
spoke when He said, "Some (seeds) fell among<br />
thorns, and the thorns sprung up and choked them."<br />
One day an unusual young man came to the chapel<br />
and became interested in the gospel. He was the<br />
station master at the French railway station. He<br />
would come in his free hours and visit the Mission<br />
house to inquire more thoroughly the way of life.<br />
Finally he gave his heart to the Lord. A baptismal<br />
service was arranged, and this young man with sev¬<br />
eral others was to be baptized. But when the day<br />
came, he had a bad cold and remained at home.<br />
The missionaries were disappointed. They prayed<br />
that he might be healed, but instead of improving<br />
he became worse, and finally went to the hospital.<br />
The doctor said he had tuberculosis. The missionaries<br />
had seen the Lord heal even such dread diseases;<br />
they knew that nothing is too hard for Him,<br />
and they continued to pray, but the young man's condition<br />
grew worse. It looked as if the Lord was not<br />
working with them this time. But "God moves in<br />
a mysterious way His wonders to perform."<br />
The young man was discharged from the hospital<br />
as a hopeless case. He went to live with his motherin-law<br />
in a near-by village. The old lady was an<br />
ardent idol worshiper, who offered many sacrifices
