held just after the decree had been issued restricting<br />

the missionary propaganda in Cambodia. Delegates<br />

were there from all parts of the kingdom, and<br />

the day meetings were especially for them. The<br />

effect of these services was to strengthen their faith<br />

and to send them back to their homes with a new<br />

determination to be true to their Saviour no matter<br />

what it might cost. The evening meetings were evan¬<br />

gelistic and were well attended. There were many<br />

earnest inquirers and some accepted the Lord as<br />

their Saviour.<br />

Job l: 6 tells of a day when the sons of God were<br />

gathered in a place of fellowship with the Lord, and<br />

it says "Satan came also among them." He was at<br />

that convention at Kompong Trach, and he did not<br />

like what he saw there. He stirred up the powers<br />

that be, and a decree was issued saying that this intense<br />

missionary activity in southern Cambodia must<br />

be stopped. The local Cambodian officials began a<br />

policy of persecutions and threatenings, calculated<br />

to stop the work. The King's decree was inter¬<br />

preted to say that only those stations that had been<br />

officially opened were to be allowed to continue.<br />

Most of the outstations in Cambodia had been unofficially<br />

opened; that is, there had been no documents<br />

given to the missionaries to authorize their<br />

activities.<br />

For a time it looked as though the enemy would<br />

succeed in stopping the development of the Lord's
