work in southern Cambodia. For the year 1933,<br />

there were no converts reported from Kompong<br />

Trach district, and the missionaries were discouraged.<br />

But the increased difficulties produced a great<br />

volume of prayer, and our God hears and answers<br />

prayer,<br />

The son of the French official, whose duty it was<br />

to interpret the King's decree and enforce it in southern<br />

Cambodia, was taken sick. His case seemed<br />

hopeless. One day the missionary met this official<br />

who, in the course of their conversation, told him<br />

of his son's condition. The missionary offered to<br />

pray for him, and the Lord healed him. Since that<br />

day the missionary has a firm friend there. He is<br />

allowed to visit the outstations; and when converts<br />

are made who live at outside points, he is permitted<br />

to visit them too. The same liberty is given to him<br />

as is accorded to the workers in northern Cambodia.<br />

The King's decree is interpreted as prohibiting the<br />

missionaries from opening new work in districts<br />

where there are no Christians. But they are allowed<br />

to go where there are already Christians, even<br />

though they be new ones. Thus the progress of<br />

the work is restricted to those places where the lord<br />

leads the way, by first bringing someone into contact<br />

with the gospel at an established outstation.<br />

These learn to know the Lord, and become the key<br />

men or women to carry the Word back to their vil¬<br />

lages. "The Lord working with them" is not only
