106 The <strong>Kabbalah</strong> <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> <strong>Golden</strong> <strong>Dawn</strong><br />
as a type <strong>of</strong> receptor for <strong>the</strong>se energies. In <strong>the</strong> E<strong>the</strong>ric, Astral-Emotional,<br />
and Mental Body <strong>the</strong>re is a certain amount <strong>of</strong> sympa<strong>the</strong>tic reaction to <strong>the</strong><br />
seven centers as well. In <strong>the</strong> Erheric Body, <strong>the</strong>se centers directly stimulate<br />
rhe physical body and receive impetus from it as well. In <strong>the</strong> next two bodies,<br />
<strong>the</strong> Astral-Emotional and Mental, <strong>the</strong> centers still remain, but here<br />
<strong>the</strong>y are nothing but connective links to <strong>the</strong> body above and below <strong>the</strong>m,<br />
with <strong>the</strong> connective links being, <strong>of</strong> course, two-way.<br />
The chakras in <strong>the</strong> E<strong>the</strong>ric Body directly relate to <strong>the</strong> Physical<br />
Body, with <strong>the</strong> psychic ramifications caused by manipulation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se<br />
centers appearing in <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r auric bodies. The adept is warned against<br />
trying to place a definite planetary correspondence with each chakra, as<br />
in each center <strong>the</strong>re are <strong>the</strong> influences <strong>of</strong> all <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> planets and <strong>the</strong>se<br />
change according to <strong>the</strong> development <strong>of</strong> each individual. The same principle<br />
also applies to color and to <strong>the</strong> centers as well. Now, as to <strong>the</strong> exact<br />
body position <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se centers, <strong>the</strong>y form a vortex both on <strong>the</strong> front and<br />
on <strong>the</strong> back <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> body, hence <strong>the</strong> confusion <strong>of</strong> placement. The description<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Shadow Chakras which follows shortly is formed from <strong>the</strong><br />
same underlying principles <strong>of</strong> everything in <strong>the</strong> subtle body having a<br />
counter-part <strong>of</strong> ei<strong>the</strong>r a higher or lower vibrational level.<br />
Base Chakra<br />
This is <strong>the</strong> lowest chakra and is situated at <strong>the</strong> base <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> spine<br />
(and not at <strong>the</strong> front <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> body as some have indicated). Its receptors<br />
are <strong>the</strong> adrenal glands, which also relate to <strong>the</strong> kidneys, <strong>the</strong> spinal column,<br />
and part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> automatic nervous system. This chakra is made <strong>of</strong><br />
four major vortices <strong>of</strong> energies which have been seen by some Eastern<br />
mystics as petals. In many ways this center is <strong>the</strong> control valve for <strong>the</strong><br />
o<strong>the</strong>r centers for it is here that additional energy can be prematurely<br />
released through <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r centers. This could result in E<strong>the</strong>ric damage,<br />
especially to <strong>the</strong> nervous system. The link is through <strong>the</strong> adrenomedullary<br />
and extra-medullary distribution <strong>of</strong> chromaffin tissue along <strong>the</strong><br />
sympa<strong>the</strong>tic nerve chains, which incidentally are <strong>the</strong> links between<br />
chakras in <strong>the</strong> physical body. Generally speaking <strong>the</strong> nervous system is<br />
<strong>the</strong> first that is stimulated directly by <strong>the</strong> E<strong>the</strong>ric energies. These in turn<br />
work <strong>the</strong> endocrine system <strong>of</strong> glands, <strong>the</strong>n <strong>the</strong> blood, and from this to <strong>the</strong><br />
various organs concerned. This center is not associated to any o<strong>the</strong>r patticular<br />
center but, in fact with all <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>rs, in a primary support role.
