An Extra Dimension <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> Tree 81<br />
balistic thought. The Ten Sephiroth are included as a type <strong>of</strong> extension<br />
<strong>of</strong> it, for <strong>the</strong> Zahar discusses <strong>the</strong> concealed Adam (or first Adam) who<br />
encompasses <strong>the</strong> Ten Sephirorh. The Partsufim scheme tried to incorporate<br />
<strong>the</strong> Sephirotic development and actually take it a step fur<strong>the</strong>r,<br />
and give a huge overview <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> varying stages <strong>of</strong> development, and<br />
show how <strong>the</strong> varying Trees <strong>of</strong> Life are incorporated in its vast <strong>the</strong>ory.<br />
The <strong>Golden</strong> <strong>Dawn</strong> tried to simplify this in a single diagram, showing<br />
<strong>the</strong> main divisions <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Partsufim <strong>the</strong>ory by grouping various Sephiroth<br />
toge<strong>the</strong>r.<br />
To a certain extent <strong>the</strong> Partsufim <strong>the</strong>ory continues where <strong>the</strong> Sephirothic<br />
emanations leave <strong>of</strong>f. At this juncture in <strong>the</strong> Zahar we are faced<br />
with what could be described as a fifth world <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Kabbalist, made up <strong>of</strong><br />
four divisions, AB, SAG, MAH, and BEN. These divisions are derived<br />
from a permutation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> letters YHVH, sometimes called in each <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
Four Worlds. Within <strong>the</strong> <strong>Golden</strong> <strong>Dawn</strong> papers (in <strong>the</strong> 4=7 ritual and<br />
associated papers) however, Ma<strong>the</strong>rs opted for <strong>the</strong> four traditional worlds<br />
and thus applied <strong>the</strong>se to <strong>the</strong> Partsufim <strong>the</strong>ory.<br />
The next phase is <strong>the</strong> grouping <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ten Sephiroth through seven<br />
stages. From this point <strong>the</strong>re is a fur<strong>the</strong>r negative space, or Abyss. This is<br />
not to be confused with <strong>the</strong> Ain Soph Aur, but an area <strong>of</strong> what one would<br />
call Negative Space, which is <strong>the</strong>n reformed into <strong>the</strong> Second primordial<br />
Adam, for <strong>the</strong> Zahar says:<br />
He spoke firstly <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Kings who ruled over Edom before<br />
<strong>the</strong> arrival <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> King <strong>of</strong> Israel, symbols <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> unbalanced<br />
powers which manifested <strong>the</strong>mselves at <strong>the</strong> beginning<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Universe, before <strong>the</strong> triumph <strong>of</strong> harmony.<br />
"God" said he, "when he wished to create, threw over his<br />
radiance a veil, and in its folds, he cast a shadow. From<br />
this shadow <strong>the</strong>re arose Giants who said: 'We are Kings'<br />
but <strong>the</strong>y were nothing more than phantoms. They<br />
appeared because God had hidden himself by creating<br />
Night within Chaos; <strong>the</strong>y disappeared when <strong>the</strong>re was<br />
brought forth from <strong>the</strong> east that Luminious Head, that<br />
glowing head that humanity gives itself by proclaiming<br />
<strong>the</strong> existence <strong>of</strong> God, <strong>the</strong> sun, governor <strong>of</strong> our aspirations<br />
and our thoughts.<br />
"Gods are mirages made <strong>of</strong> shadow, and God is <strong>the</strong><br />
syn<strong>the</strong>sis <strong>of</strong> splendours. Usurpers fall away when <strong>the</strong>
