128 The <strong>Kabbalah</strong> <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> <strong>Golden</strong> <strong>Dawn</strong><br />
forth out <strong>of</strong> Eden (namely <strong>the</strong> Supernal Triad) to water <strong>the</strong><br />
Garden (<strong>the</strong> rest <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Sephirorh) and from <strong>the</strong>nce it was<br />
divided into four heads in Daath, whence it is said; "In Daath<br />
<strong>the</strong> depths are broken up and <strong>the</strong> clouds drop down dew."<br />
The first head is Pishon which flows into Geburah "where<br />
<strong>the</strong>re is gold," it is <strong>the</strong> River <strong>of</strong> Fire. The second head is<br />
Gihon, <strong>the</strong> River <strong>of</strong> Waters, flowing into Chesed. The third is<br />
Hiddekel, <strong>the</strong> River <strong>of</strong> Air flowing into Tiphareth. And <strong>the</strong><br />
fourth river which receiveth <strong>the</strong> virtue <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r three is<br />
Euphrates which floweth down upon Malkuth <strong>the</strong> Earth. This<br />
river going forth out <strong>of</strong> Eden is <strong>the</strong> River <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Apocalypse, <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> Waters <strong>of</strong> Life, clear as crystal, proceeding out <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
Throne <strong>of</strong> God and <strong>the</strong> Lamb, on ei<strong>the</strong>r side <strong>of</strong> which was <strong>the</strong><br />
Tree <strong>of</strong> Life bearing 12 manner <strong>of</strong> fruit. And thus do <strong>the</strong> Rivers<br />
<strong>of</strong> Eden form a Cross, and on that Cross <strong>the</strong> great Adam <strong>the</strong><br />
Son who was to rule Nations with a rod <strong>of</strong> iron is extended<br />
from Tiphareth and his arms are stretched out to Gedulah and<br />
Geburah. And in Malkuth is Eve, <strong>the</strong> completion <strong>of</strong> All, <strong>the</strong><br />
Mo<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> All, and above <strong>the</strong> Universe she supporteth with<br />
her hands <strong>the</strong> Eternal Pillars <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Sephiroth."<br />
The <strong>Golden</strong> <strong>Dawn</strong> approach, from this description, is a combination<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> traditional Judaic and <strong>the</strong> Christian. The Zohar 123 tells us that<br />
God planted Man, as Israel, in <strong>the</strong> Lower Garden <strong>of</strong> Eden, 124from which<br />
man was formed from <strong>the</strong> Middle column, along with Eve, as two distinct<br />
entities from <strong>the</strong> single source that would never be separated, <strong>the</strong> branches<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Tree being <strong>the</strong> purity and guardians <strong>of</strong>YHVH's teaching. Only<br />
when <strong>the</strong> teaching is accepted by mankind (as Israel) will <strong>the</strong> knowledge<br />
and benefits <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> fruits <strong>of</strong> knowledge, being born in Malkuth at <strong>the</strong> base<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Tree <strong>of</strong> Life, benefit everyone, as from this fruit all will eat, from<br />
<strong>the</strong> one Tree.<br />
As shown by <strong>the</strong> diagram on page 126, Metatron (or Enoch) came<br />
down from <strong>the</strong> Supernal Eden to <strong>the</strong> Lower Eden to protect it from <strong>the</strong><br />
Qlippoth who were trying to climb to <strong>the</strong> source <strong>of</strong> Light. The problem<br />
was that <strong>the</strong> vessels <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Sephiroth were formed from Chaos or Tohou<br />
and were imperfect, and could not hold <strong>the</strong> light emanating from above.<br />
l2J Part I. folio 25a-26b, was <strong>the</strong> basts <strong>of</strong> this Ma<strong>the</strong>rs explanation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Garden <strong>of</strong> Eden before <strong>the</strong><br />
Fall.<br />
124 The Garden is <strong>the</strong> Shekmah on earth while Eden is <strong>the</strong> Supernal Mo<strong>the</strong>r, two levels <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Shekinah<br />
in one fonn.
