CHAPTER SIX<br />
An Extra Dimension <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Tree<br />
Up to this point we have looked at <strong>the</strong> Sephiroth as formed in a Tree.<br />
Now we come to ano<strong>the</strong>r dimension <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Kabbalah</strong> where instead <strong>of</strong><br />
Ten Sephiroth we have a series <strong>of</strong> figures or Partsufim (Countenances).<br />
Like <strong>the</strong> Sephirorh, <strong>the</strong> Partsufim are included in <strong>the</strong> Zohar proper, mainly<br />
in <strong>the</strong> "Book <strong>of</strong> Concealed Mystery," "Greater Assembly," and "Lesser<br />
Assembly" which Ma<strong>the</strong>rs translated from <strong>the</strong> Latin <strong>of</strong> Kabbala Denudata,<br />
and published under <strong>the</strong> title <strong>Kabbalah</strong> Unveiled. For many within <strong>the</strong><br />
<strong>Golden</strong> <strong>Dawn</strong>, this Ma<strong>the</strong>rs' work was a source <strong>of</strong> study in <strong>the</strong> Partsufim<br />
<strong>the</strong>ory, yet it is barely mentioned in <strong>the</strong> Order's Knowledge lectures.I!<br />
Apart from <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficial Knowledge lectures <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Order, <strong>the</strong>re were a<br />
number <strong>of</strong> papers handed around on <strong>the</strong> subject that seemed to come<br />
from two sources. The first is from an early English translation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
Zohar from Levi's Book<strong>of</strong> Splendours (dated 1897), and <strong>the</strong> second from a<br />
series <strong>of</strong> papers that have come from Rosenroth's Kabbala Denudata,<br />
which included three explanations <strong>of</strong> diagrams and quotes from <strong>the</strong> text<br />
(which Ma<strong>the</strong>rs translated). These were placed toge<strong>the</strong>r in a section <strong>of</strong><br />
scattered notes called <strong>the</strong> "Book <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Long Face." The introduction to<br />
71 It comprises mainly <strong>the</strong> Fifth Knowledge Lecture.<br />
