Rushing operations: As for rushing, <strong>the</strong> prescription for it is understanding and sitting with<br />
<strong>the</strong> youth and clarifying <strong>the</strong> general policy for action and <strong>the</strong> importance <strong>of</strong> biding one's time<br />
in some <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>stage</strong>s <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> battle in order to drain <strong>the</strong> enemy, for example, and similar<br />
explanations. We <strong>will</strong> show <strong>the</strong>m that this matter <strong>will</strong> only be mastered by one who is as<br />
ponderous as <strong>the</strong> mountains, who does not easily give in to <strong>the</strong> provocation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> enemy.<br />
Of course, <strong>the</strong> believer should not be cold emotionally and he should be angry for <strong>the</strong> sake<br />
<strong>of</strong> God and act to repulse <strong>the</strong> forbidden things with everything in his power. However, he<br />
should know when and how to act so that he can obtain what he desires. Likewise, we<br />
should show (<strong>the</strong> youth) <strong>the</strong> importance <strong>of</strong> listening and obedience, especially regarding<br />
matters <strong>the</strong> underlying wisdom <strong>of</strong> <strong>which</strong> we cannot disclose on account <strong>of</strong> its secrecy. (We<br />
should also show <strong>the</strong> importance <strong>of</strong>) focusing on <strong>the</strong> many places in <strong>the</strong> prophetic biography<br />
regarding that. We do not do this out <strong>of</strong> a lack <strong>of</strong> energy, weakness, or shying away;<br />
o<strong>the</strong>rwise we would not have declared a jihad in <strong>the</strong> first place. We are working to bring<br />
(people) toge<strong>the</strong>r and to guide <strong>the</strong>m as much as we can and to preserve <strong>the</strong> ember <strong>of</strong><br />
enthusiasm by engaging in battles <strong>which</strong> achieve vexation at <strong>the</strong> (right) time and place. Our<br />
viewpoint is not <strong>the</strong> viewpoint <strong>of</strong> those who sit and do not fight. Likewise, it is possible to<br />
unload <strong>the</strong> cargo <strong>of</strong> excess enthusiasm <strong>which</strong> <strong>the</strong>se people have for <strong>the</strong> benefit <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
actions. (We should also) show <strong>the</strong> importance and seriousness <strong>of</strong> any action as being part<br />
<strong>of</strong> a more general action and (emphasize) <strong>the</strong> importance <strong>of</strong> mastering it, even though it may<br />
seem small in size and unimportant. This is because <strong>the</strong> desire for large actions, especially<br />
battle, overcomes <strong>the</strong> minds <strong>of</strong> some <strong>of</strong> those enthusiastic people. That is a good quality<br />
<strong>which</strong> usually indicates high aspiration. However, one <strong>of</strong> its harmful effects is that it moves<br />
<strong>the</strong>m to scorn actions that are not large, a fact <strong>which</strong> may make <strong>the</strong>m listless or make <strong>the</strong>m<br />
undertake those (smaller) actions without mastering <strong>the</strong>m.
