deviation and <strong>the</strong>re is no doubt that it is crooked jurisprudence and corrupt laws. This<br />

jurisprudence <strong>which</strong> we hear from our shaykhs that permits political diversity and<br />

negotiating with those in authority and does not permit <strong>of</strong>fensive jihad and permits<br />

appointing infidels to political, military, and judicial positions in <strong>the</strong> Islamic state only comes<br />

about on account <strong>of</strong> this corrupt dream, and this dream results from indigestion, <strong>the</strong><br />

underlying reason for <strong>which</strong> is <strong>the</strong> mixing <strong>of</strong> ideas that are not <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> same kind. The<br />

explanation <strong>of</strong> this is that our world, on account <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> factors <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Satanic structure in it,<br />

has been filled with evil in all <strong>of</strong> its dimensions and <strong>the</strong> Islamic hope has been thwarted.<br />

When a shaykh comes along to remedy this situation by means <strong>of</strong> (Islamic) legal rules, this<br />

remedy—and under <strong>the</strong> circumstances <strong>of</strong> this situation—<strong>will</strong> make it move away from many<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> "hardnesses <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> salaf" (as <strong>the</strong>y have been named)<br />

and towards <strong>the</strong> "s<strong>of</strong>tnesses <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> descendents" (<strong>the</strong>ir moderation is just as <strong>the</strong> name<br />

implies). That is because <strong>the</strong> establishment <strong>of</strong> an Islamic state has occurred without properly<br />

preparing <strong>the</strong> foundation for it. This preparation only occurs <strong>through</strong> <strong>the</strong> “power <strong>of</strong><br />

vexation." 22<br />

(We agree with this) while appreciating that is difficult, in various <strong>stage</strong>s, to predict and<br />

determine <strong>the</strong> results <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> movement <strong>of</strong> radical change <strong>which</strong> we intend and its Sunna path<br />

<strong>which</strong> we clarify because it is a movement in <strong>which</strong> all <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> elements <strong>of</strong> existence take part.<br />

It is "one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>most</strong> complicated things a human <strong>will</strong> face in his life and it is one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>most</strong> difficult and <strong>most</strong> abstruse things that happens to human beings in <strong>the</strong> course <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
