The teaching <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se principles to individuals opens a wide vista before <strong>the</strong>ir eyes for<br />

creativity and perhaps extraordinary leaders <strong>will</strong> emerge from among <strong>the</strong>m who <strong>will</strong> write<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir <strong>the</strong>ories in books <strong>of</strong> modern history, especially since <strong>the</strong> books <strong>of</strong> this art in our time<br />

ignore <strong>the</strong> fact that <strong>most</strong> <strong>of</strong> its fundamental principles were taken from <strong>the</strong> ways <strong>of</strong> our<br />

forefa<strong>the</strong>rs.<br />

Here I <strong>will</strong> mention some examples related to a few <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> principles in order to sharpen <strong>the</strong><br />

mind and clarify <strong>the</strong> importance <strong>of</strong> following <strong>the</strong>se principles in order to improve <strong>the</strong><br />

efficacy <strong>of</strong> our military actions.<br />

— There is an important principle <strong>which</strong> states, "If regular armies concentrate in one place<br />

<strong>the</strong>y lose control. Conversely, if <strong>the</strong>y spread out, <strong>the</strong>y lose effectiveness".<br />

The first half <strong>of</strong> this principle directs us to focus our military operations on creating a<br />

disturbance in <strong>the</strong> balance between <strong>the</strong> conglomeration <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> forces <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> enemy and <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

dispersion. The meaning <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> first half (<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> principle) is that when we target something,<br />

it is impossible for <strong>the</strong> enemy to put massive amounts <strong>of</strong> forces in this place. And if <strong>the</strong>y<br />

do, <strong>the</strong>y <strong>will</strong> lose control when <strong>the</strong> first shot is fired and <strong>the</strong>ir forces <strong>will</strong> hit each o<strong>the</strong>r.<br />

Therefore, <strong>the</strong> enemy <strong>will</strong> put in place forces that are commensurate with <strong>the</strong> nature and size<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> location. Thus, we must know <strong>the</strong> nature and types <strong>of</strong> locations in <strong>which</strong> <strong>the</strong> size <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> enemy's forces enables us to prepare a force to attack it, because it is impossible for <strong>the</strong><br />

enemy to increase its forces within it. Likewise, we learn, in <strong>the</strong> first half (<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> principle),<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> importance <strong>of</strong> learning <strong>the</strong> art <strong>of</strong> choosing <strong>the</strong> location <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> clash with <strong>the</strong> enemy<br />

under any time or circumstances when a clash is imposed upon us. As for <strong>the</strong> second half <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> principle, it is <strong>the</strong> <strong>most</strong> important and has an effect on <strong>the</strong> first half. (The second half
