l <strong>Waterway</strong> <strong>Panorama</strong> Movement of goods 2008 - 2009 Containers Among public piers, the pier of Santos (SP) had the largest movement of containers between July 2008 and June 2009, when the volume was 352,507 units, representing a decrease of 4.5% over the previous period. The second position was occupied by the port of São Francisco do Sul (SC), which handled 135,008 units, representing an increase of 3% over the period between June 2007 and July 2008. In the third position, the port of Fortaleza handled 54,524 units, with an increase of 31.6% over the previous period. TECON Santos led the movement of containers between leased or private terminals between July 2008 and June 2009, when it handled 684,908 units, almost double the movement of the public pier of Santos, which led movement among public ports. In the previous period, movement at TECON Santos decreased 6.3%. The third position was occupied by TCP Paranaguá (PR), with 339,957 units, unchanged since the previous period. As for the average sheet, which determines the number of containers handled per hour, the top position of the ranking of public ports is occupied by the port of Santos, which handled 22 units per hour between July 2008 and June 2009, in an average identical to the previous period. The second position was occupied by the port of Itajaí (SC), which handled 18 units per hour, in an average 5.8% higher compared to the previous period. The third one was São Francisco do Sul, which handled 17 containers per hour, in an average 29.2% lower than the one reported between July 2007 and June 2008. The leader in leased or private terminals was TECON Santos, which handled 35 containers per hour, in an average 59% higher than the port of Santos, which led the ranking of public ports, and 2.7% lower than the average reached by the terminal in the previous period. The second position was occupied by the T-37 Libra Terminais, also in Santos, which handled 31 units per hour, in an average 6% lower compared with the previous period. The third one was TECON Rio Grande, which handled 30 containers per hour, in an average 7.1% higher than the one reported in the previous period. The ports of Belém and Santarém (PA) recorded an average delay time of less than one hour per ship and led the ranking of public ports between July 2008 and June 2009. The second position was occupied by the ports of Vila do Conde (PA) and Maceió, where ships took an hour to dock, on average. At the port of Santos, in 9th place, the average delay time for docking was 11 hours. São Francisco do Sul had the worst performance, where ships took 19 hours to dock, on average, due to the increase in the number of vessels, arising from the partial destruction of the Port of Itajaí. Among leased or private terminals, the EMPAT terminal, in Maceió, reported an average delay time of one hour. The second position was occupied by the Peiú terminal in Victoria, where ships took 5 hours to dock, on average. In the third position, TECONDI Santos reported an average delay time of 6 hours for docking. The price of port services in the commercial pier at the port of Itajaí (SC) was the lowest per container handled in 2008: R$243,08 per unit, 20% less than Imbituba, which had the second lowest price, and 60.7% less than the highest price, registered at the port of Salvador. Among the terminals, the lowest price was charged in the T-37, of Libra, in Santos (SP), at R$233,89, 1.8% less than TECONDI Santos, in the second position, and 50.4% less than the price per container handled at TECON Suape (PE). 13
