<strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Botanic</strong> <strong>Gardens</strong> Foundation Victoria<br />

The <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Botanic</strong> <strong>Gardens</strong> Foundation was established in May 2001, with the goal<br />

of providing the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Botanic</strong> <strong>Gardens</strong> with a secure source of future income from<br />

the investment of bequests, seat sponsorships, Director’s Circle donations, and<br />

general donations.<br />

The <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Botanic</strong> <strong>Gardens</strong> Foundation has Deductible Gift Recipient (Item 2) (DGR)<br />

status and is endorsed as an Income Tax Exempt Fund.<br />

During the year, the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Botanic</strong> <strong>Gardens</strong> Foundation continued to manage its<br />

capital base and enhance its capacity to provide long-term financial support to the<br />

<strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Botanic</strong> <strong>Gardens</strong>. Significant growth occurred within the sub-fund established to<br />

support the Plant Systematics Fellowship, an academic position to be jointly funded<br />

by the Foundation and the School of Botany at The University of Melbourne.<br />

While continuing to build its capacity, the Foundation has also been able to disburse<br />

two major funding grants for the Working Wetlands project, making an indispensable<br />

contribution to the improvement of RBG Melbourne’s future sustainability and its<br />

resilience to climate change and water scarcity.<br />
