The Development branch continued to develop its<br />
relationship with Philanthropy Australia and its<br />
me<strong>mb</strong>er Trusts and Foundations. The branch<br />
promoted the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Botanic</strong> <strong>Gardens</strong>’ work in<br />
biodiversity, conservation and sustainable<br />
resource management in its interactions with<br />
me<strong>mb</strong>ers, which included the provision of<br />
comprehensive progress reports on funded<br />
projects, guided inspection tours for trustees and<br />
governors, and provision of project information for<br />
annual reports, websites and publications.<br />
The involvement and commitment of individual<br />
donors, including supporters of the Director’s<br />
Circle regular giving program, were encouraged<br />
during the year through regular personal contact<br />
and special events. The latter included the annual<br />
Director’s Dinner, the Christmas ‘thank-you’<br />
function, and a special preview inspection tour of<br />
the construction of the Australian Garden Stage 2<br />
at RBG Cranbourne.<br />
Specific Outcome 12<br />
(Relating to Corporate Plan Action 10)<br />
Foster our relationships with, and support the<br />
activities of, our Friends and other support<br />
groups by:<br />
a. continuing to provide server space, data and<br />
voice connections and basic Helpdesk support<br />
to the Friends and the Garden Plant Conservation<br />
Association of Australia (GPCAA)<br />
b. continuing to host the GPCAA and RBG Friends<br />
websites and assisting the Plant Craft Cottage in<br />
obtaining digital map information<br />
The <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Botanic</strong> <strong>Gardens</strong> benefits from a nu<strong>mb</strong>er<br />
of active support groups and, in turn, supported<br />
these groups in a nu<strong>mb</strong>er of ways including:<br />
a. Provision of server space, voice connections and<br />
basic Helpdesk support by the Information<br />
Services branch to Friends’ groups at both sites<br />
and the GPCAA.<br />
b. Hosting of the GPCAA and RBG Friends’<br />
websites and provision of training by Information<br />
Services branch staff to me<strong>mb</strong>ers of the support<br />
groups in the Content Management System,<br />
MySource Matrix. Me<strong>mb</strong>ers of the support<br />
groups were supplied with digital maps to support<br />
Horticulture branch staff in the management of<br />
the Camellia Collection.<br />
