PSYCHOLOGY DEGREE PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The program of study leading to the Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology enables Victory
students to develop an understanding of human nature from both psychological and Christian
worldview perspectives. While mastering challenging coursework in psychological theory and
research, students also develop practical relationship skills essential to successful careers in a
variety of professions.
Psychology students participate in research, critically analyze and solve complex problems, and
learn to clearly communicate research results. Pursuing the psychology degree also enables
students to understand the historical development of major philosophical systems of
psychology. In addition, students become aware of the multifaceted complexity of human
nature: behavioral, cognitive, emotional, developmental, physiological, abnormal, social, and
spiritual.
After establishing this groundwork of psychological knowledge, human relations skills, and
problem-solving abilities, Victory psychology graduates have built successful careers in mental
health and social service agencies, schools, hospitals, businesses, and churches.
Because optimum advancement in professional psychology requires a Master’s or Doctoral
degree, the psychology program helps prepare students for graduate study. Alumni of the
Victory University Department of Behavioral Sciences have earned graduate degrees from a
variety of universities and professional institutes of higher learning nationwide.
DEPARTMENTAL MISSION
The mission of the Behavioral Sciences Department at Victory University is to equip students to:
1. Understand, critically analyze, and apply psychological theory and research data from
social and natural sciences;
2. Articulate diverse philosophical interpretations of psychological data, aiming toward
integration of scientific and Biblical worldview perspectives;
3. Apply psychological principles to life goals such as earning a graduate degree, entering
one of the human service professions or developing personally, relationally, and
spiritually.
