We intend to keep on expanding our strong position in business with German SMEs and are<br />

keen to actively help them grow. Our business model, which is based on long-term partnership<br />

and customer proximity, helps us boost our presence with customers and encourages<br />

this important Mittelstandsbank business area over the long term. We still see potential here<br />

to expand our business relationships with small SMEs. To do so, we want to continue supporting<br />

classic SME customers in our domestic market in all product areas on an unrestricted<br />

basis as a competent, trustworthy principal bank committed to working in partnership.<br />

Corporate Banking & International<br />

The Corporate Banking & International division is responsible for supporting corporate customers<br />

with a turnover of more than €500m as well as smaller groups and businesses with<br />

mainly foreign operations that require capital market products. Seven corporate centres<br />

within Germany are responsible for domestic Corporate Banking. This division is also responsible<br />

for the Renewable Energies Competence Centre, which provides professional support<br />

for customers and their projects in this sector. This includes supporting businesses<br />

which generate more than half of their turnover through renewable energies, as well as project<br />

finance for power plants implementing these technologies.<br />

Focus on business with reference to Germany<br />

International orientation is part of the business model for most of our corporate customers.<br />

As a reliable partner, we provide competent support for our German corporate customers in<br />

their international activities. Here our customers benefit from our broad knowledge of relevant<br />

markets. By consistently implementing our powerful and proven service model relying<br />

on corporate customer advisors and product specialists, we can optimally satisfy the growing<br />

demand for international support abroad. The foundation for this is a comprehensive local<br />

network and broad country know-how. Our customers receive further support from the International<br />

Desk, a central service unit that provides assistance on the set-up and expansion<br />

of business in foreign markets based on interculturalism and the experience of many years’<br />

spent abroad. We also support foreign companies on their way into the German market and<br />

focus in particular on business related to our German core market<br />

Successful collaboration with the Corporates & Markets segment<br />

Large companies in particular look for sophisticated financing solutions, including the capital<br />

markets – from classic commercial banking to all-round financing solutions with corporate<br />

finance products. Against this background, our concept of close cooperation with the<br />

Corporates & Markets segment has paid off. Our customers value Corporate Finance Advisory’s<br />

cross-product advisory approach and the resultant individual and strategic solutions<br />

implemented in close collaboration with sector and product specialists.<br />
