BYRON SHIRE COUNCIL ORDINARY MEETING 9 MAY 2013 (3) NOTICES OF MOTION 5 Notice of Motion No. 8.1. #E2013/21674 I move: Support for Byron Bay Writers Festival 2013 and event sponsorship 10 15 1. That Council offer support to the Byron Bay Writers’ Festival 2013, become an Event Sponsor and provide promotional material for display. 2. That the support involve the use of Council signage and associated materials for traffic management and staff assistance in placing those materials in position with respect to the Traffic Management Plan and identified as a donation of $1,500. 3. That Council advertise this sponsorship support as a S356 donation. Signed: Cr Simon Richardson 20 Councillor’s Background Notes: The Byron Bay Writers Festival is to be held from 2-4 August 2013. 25 The Byron Bay Writers’ Festival is one of the regions most successful festivals and Council has for the last six years supported the event and been recognised as a sponsor. The festival has a broad audience and a high level of community involvement. 30 Recommended priority relative to other Delivery Plan tasks: Not applicable Definition of the project/task: 35 Donation to community group Source of Funds (if applicable): 40 45 50 Contribution Community Event - Approval Expenses (2341.6) Management Comments by Phil Holloway, Executive Manager Community Infrastructure and Mark Arnold, Executive Manager Corporate Management (Management Comments must not include formatted recommendations – resolution 11-979) Clarification of project/task: The Notice of Motion is seeking Council to become an Event Sponsor and to consider the making of a S356 Donation of $1,500, as a contribution towards the provision and set up of signage and associated materials for the event in accordance with an approved Traffic Control Plan (TCP). The Byron Bay Writers’ Festival could hire the signage and undertake installation by external suppliers, or the works could be provided by Council at the applicable hire rates in accordance with Ordinary Meeting Agenda 09/05/13
