COURSE DESCRIPTIONS<br />

ART110B Topics in Art: Photography/Camera/Film credits: 1<br />

The student will develop an understanding for using a film camera. The student will learn<br />

to properly expose and process black and white film.<br />

ART110C Topics in Art: Photography/Darkroom credits: 1<br />

The student will develop an understanding for using the darkroom enlarger. The student<br />

will learn to properly expose and process black and white photographic paper.<br />

ART110D Topics in Art: Photography/Digital credits: 1<br />

The student will develop an understanding of digital photography. The student will use a<br />

digital camera and Photoshop Elements 3 to produce digital prints.<br />

ART110E Printmaking/Stencil Processes credits: 2<br />

An introduction to the discipline of printmaking using the traditional studio processes<br />

pochoir and serigraphy. With an emphasis on studio production, this course addresses color<br />

separation, registration, proofing, and editioning.<br />

ART110F Printmaking: Relief/Intaglio Processes credits: 2<br />

An introduction to the discipline of printmaking using the traditional studio processes relief<br />

and intaglio. With an emphasis on studio production, this course addresses color separation,<br />

registration, proofing, and editioning.<br />

ART110G Painting with Oils credits: 2<br />

Students explore oil painting as an integrative process involving aspects of drawing, design,<br />

color, and image in the organization of a two-dimensional surface.<br />

ART110H Painting with Watercolors credits: 2<br />

Students explore watercolor painting as an integrative process involving aspects of drawing,<br />

design, color, and image in the organization of a two-dimensional surface.<br />

ART110I Ceramics: Handbuilding credits: 2<br />

Students explore the techniques of hand built ceramic form, as related to functional ware<br />

and as sculptural object. A variety of clay techniques, glazing, firing procedures, and topics<br />

in craft criticism are explored.<br />

ART110J Ceramics: Wheel Thrown Vessels credits: 2<br />

Students explore the techniques of wheel-thrown form, as related to functional ware and<br />

the vessel as sculptural object. A variety of clay techniques, glazing, firing procedures, and<br />

topics in craft criticism are explored.<br />

ART110K Photography for Non-Art Majors credits: 3<br />

A thorough first term course in basic black and white photography. It is designed for the<br />

student with no prior knowledge of photography. The course will introduce the student to:<br />

the basic understanding and operation of the 35mm SLR camera, the basic understanding<br />

and operation of the enlarger, the proper mixing and handling of photographic chemicals,<br />

proper darkroom procedures, proper film development, the techniques of print making,<br />

and basic lighting techniques.<br />

ART202 Drawing & Design II credits: 3<br />

This course utilizes nature, still life, and the human figure to study line, form, space, and<br />

value. A variety of wet and dry media plus the introduction of color are used to further<br />

develop the student's understanding and skills in drawing and design.<br />

PREREQUISITES: ART101<br />

ART204 3-Dimensional Design credits: 3<br />

An introductory forum for understanding basic design principles, concepts, materials and<br />

processes with an emphasis on creating three-dimensional art. This course includes basic<br />

techniques of constructing, assembling, fabrication, and experimental mediums.<br />

PREREQUISITES: ART101
