COURSE DESCRIPTIONS<br />

INS385 Gender and Society credits: 3<br />

Examines the major concepts, issues, and research findings regarding the relationship<br />

between gender and social structures. Aspects of society examined include history, education,<br />

work, family, law, government, and media. Discussion includes the interrelationship<br />

between gender, race, class, and age. Focus is on the United States, with some cross-national<br />

material. PREREQUISITES: INS181<br />

ISM341 PC Architecture & Maintenance credits: 3<br />

An introduction to the structure & function of desktop computers, PC fileservers, &<br />

peripheral equipment with emphasis on installation, troubleshooting, & maintenance.<br />

Includes hands-on laboratory work. PREREQUISITES: PHY212<br />

ISM351 Systems and Help Desk Management credits: 3<br />

Students learn to apply skills & knowledge acquired in prior courses of desktop computers<br />

and network operating systems, and application software to support computer users in a<br />

networked computer environment. PREREQUISITES: CSC241 and MAT261 and COM202<br />

ISM421 Network Administration credits: 3<br />

An introduction to the architecture, installation, operation, and maintenance of local and<br />

wide area computer networks. PREREQUISITES: CSC352 and ISM341 and ISM351<br />

ISM425 Web Site Design & Administration credits: 3<br />

Students will acquire facility with a broad range of skills and technologies used to create<br />

and manage a complex web site. PREREQUISITES: ART220 and CSC352 and ISM421<br />

ISM483 Senior Project credits: 1<br />

Students combine research and practical implementation of theories and concepts to develop<br />

an individual project.<br />

Beginning level. The curriculum focuses on practical language skills and conversation in<br />

order to facilitate a quick transition to life in Macerata and to gain better access into the<br />

The focus of this group of activities is the development of fitness habits for the individual.<br />

Activities include: jogging, aerobic exercises, swimming, weight training, and physical conditioning.<br />

KIN233 Sports Health credits: 3<br />

This course is designed to give knowledge and skills in the treatment of common activityrelated<br />

injuries. Basis principles of first aid and athletic training are learned.<br />

KIN235 Motor Learning & Development credits: 3<br />

This course is designed to give knowledge about motor learning and development. Students<br />

experience how movements are learned and how the capacity for movement changes over<br />

the life-span.<br />

KIN240 Team Activities credits: 1<br />

This group focuses on some popular team sports, as well as some that are not well known.<br />

Activities include: volleyball, <strong>Concordia</strong> ball, basketball, korfball, softball.
