Pre-Medical/Dental School Major<br />
The faculty from the Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics of <strong>Concordia</strong><br />
<strong>University</strong> has summarized the prerequisites of the (1) four medical schools – <strong>University</strong> of<br />
Michigan-<strong>Ann</strong> <strong>Arbor</strong>, Wayne State <strong>University</strong>-Detroit, and the two schools at Michigan<br />
State <strong>University</strong>-East Lansing and (2) two dental schools - <strong>University</strong> of Michigan, and the<br />
<strong>University</strong> of Detroit Mercy Dental College, in the state of Michigan. Professional schools<br />
of medicine/dentistry in most cases require a baccalaureate degree from an accredited four<br />
year college like <strong>Concordia</strong>. Some will allow transfer after 90 semester hours or three years.<br />
Students are strongly urged to contact their medical/dental schools of choice for the exact<br />
course prerequisites.<br />
This program is to be followed by professional healthcare students wishing to apply to<br />
Medical School, Dental School, or Colleges of Pediatric Medicine, Osteopathic Medicine,<br />
Chiropractic Medicine, etc.<br />
The following courses serve as the required and expected coursework for both the Medical<br />
College Admission Test (MCAT) or Dental Admission Test (DAT) and Medical or Dental<br />
School admission. Various factors (e.g. evidence of commitment to the profession, volunteer<br />
services) are included in the admission process; <strong>Concordia</strong> offers no guarantee that the mere<br />
completion of the following coursework will result in admission to these schools.<br />
Certain coursework offerings are identified as Even (E) – offered during even academic<br />
years (e.g. 2006-07, 2008-09) or Odd (O) – during odd academic years (e.g. 2005-06,<br />
2007-08)
