COURSE DESCRIPTIONS<br />

GRE202A Elementary Greek II credits: 4<br />

Continuation of GRE201. Students learn the morphology, syntax, and vocabulary of<br />

ancient Greek and achieve increasing competence in the skills in reading and writing passages.<br />

PREREQUISITES: GRE201 or GRE201A<br />

GRE295 Independent Study in Greek credits: 1<br />

Sophomore level independent study.<br />

GRE301 Greek Prose credits: 3<br />

This course will involve more intensive reading of Koine Greek, a continuation of work on<br />

translation skills, and further study of morphology, syntax, and vocabulary.<br />

PREREQUISITES: GRE202 or GRE202A<br />

GRE302 Greek Poetry credits: 3<br />

Students examine selected readings in Greek literature along with a review of morphology,<br />

syntax, and vocabulary. PREREQUISITES: GRE301<br />

GRE311 Synoptic Gospels credits: 3<br />

Reading in the original of large portions of the synoptic Gospels in the original, with special<br />

emphasis on the particular style of each of the writers and their interdependence.<br />

PREREQUISITES: GRE302<br />

GRE312 Pauline Epistles I credits: 3<br />

This course provides an intensive study of the major epistles of Paul, such as Romans, and 1<br />

and 2 Corinthians. PREREQUISITES: GRE302<br />

GRE313 Pauline Epistles II credits: 3<br />

This course focuses on reading the shorter letters of Paul beginning with Galatians and endings<br />

with Philemon. The purpose of the course is to increase the efficiency in reading<br />

Koine Greek, enhance better understanding of syntax, and improve the range of New<br />

Testament vocabulary. PREREQUISITES: GRE302<br />

GRE315A Greek Readings: Septuagint credits: 1<br />

This course serves as a vehicle for development of skills necessary in translation of ancient<br />

Greek texts. Students expand their knowledge of Greek morphology, syntax, and vocabulary.<br />

GRE315B Greek Readings: Classical Texts credits: 1<br />

This course serves as a vehicle for development of skills necessary in translation of<br />

ancient Greek texts. Students expand their knowledge of Greek morphology,<br />

GRE315C Greek Readings: New Testament credits: 1<br />

This course serves as a vehicle for development of skills necessary in translation of<br />
