COURSE DESCRIPTIONS<br />

SOC353 Death & Dying credits: 3<br />

This course is intended to provide opportunity for the student to be aware of the sociological,<br />

psychological, and theological aspects of death and the process of dying.<br />

PREREQUISITES: SOC101<br />

SOC355 American Racial & Cultural Minorities credits: 3<br />

Listed under history. Students examine the ethnic dimension of American historical<br />

development.<br />

SOC361 Criminology & Delinquency credits: 3<br />

The study of the processes by which society defines crime and delinquency. Further study<br />

of the various forms of crime and delinquency which characterize the social order.<br />

PREREQUISITES: SOC101 or INS181<br />

SOC390 Sociology Internship credits: 1<br />

Intern experience in social welfare or related institutions. May be taken to maximum of 16<br />

credit hours.<br />

SOC395 Independent Study in Sociology credits: 1<br />

Junior level independent study.<br />

SOC483 Senior Project credits: 1<br />

Students combine research and practical implementation of theories and concepts to develop<br />

an individual project.<br />

Continuation of the study of Spanish grammar and syntax as well as development of vocabulary,<br />

through listening, speaking, reading and writing. PREREQUISITES: SPA101<br />

SPA201 Cultural & Conversational Spanish credits: 3<br />

Students review grammar and syntax, practice conversation, and use selected readings in<br />

Hispanic history and culture. PREREQUISITES: SPA102<br />

SPA202 Conversation & Readings in Spanish credits: 3<br />

Students converse and read in Hispanic literature from various genres. PREREQUISITES:<br />

SPA201<br />

SPA295 Independent Study in Spanish credits: 1<br />

Sophomore level independent study.<br />

SPA301 Spanish Grammar I credits: 1<br />

A review of grammatical principles studied in SPA102 and an introduction to future and<br />

conditional tenses of the indicative. Normally taken simultaneously with SPA201 Cultural<br />

and Conversational Spanish. PREREQUISITES: SPA102<br />

SPA302 Spanish Grammar II credits: 1<br />

A review of grammatical principles studied in SPA301 and an introduction to the present<br />

subjunctive and its uses, the imperfect subjunctive and its uses, prepositions and certain<br />

verbs. Normally taken simultaneously with SPA202 Conversation and Readings in Spanish.<br />

PREREQUISITES: SPA301
