Abstract<br />
Collaboration is relatively well advanced <strong>in</strong> <strong>Denmark</strong>. Interviews with <strong>of</strong>ficials revealed a strong<br />
commitment to the concept and practice <strong>of</strong> collaboration, and general satisfaction with the way the<br />
policy and operational environments support this behaviour.<br />
At the all-<strong>of</strong>-government level, rather than consolidat<strong>in</strong>g co-ord<strong>in</strong>ation responsibilities under a<br />
s<strong>in</strong>gle entity such as a chief <strong>in</strong>formation <strong>of</strong>ficer, <strong>Denmark</strong> has <strong>in</strong>volved several m<strong>in</strong>istries <strong>in</strong><br />
co-ord<strong>in</strong>at<strong>in</strong>g e-government accord<strong>in</strong>g to how it fits with their wider responsibilities, functions and<br />
expertise. <strong>Denmark</strong>’s current arrangements for top-level plann<strong>in</strong>g, co-ord<strong>in</strong>ation and leadership <strong>of</strong> e-<br />
government have contributed significantly to its achievements, and there is strong support, both with<strong>in</strong><br />
and outside government, for cont<strong>in</strong>uation <strong>of</strong> these arrangements beyond 2006.<br />
In addition to putt<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> place a range <strong>of</strong> co-ord<strong>in</strong>at<strong>in</strong>g roles, responsibilities and bodies,<br />
<strong>Denmark</strong> has also been active <strong>in</strong> develop<strong>in</strong>g common ICT <strong>in</strong>frastructures and applications that<br />
support e-government collaboration.<br />
