For the South and Cambridge Districts:<br />

The customer may pay the cost of furnishing and installing<br />

all primary cable up to the padmount transformer. NSTAR<br />

will own and maintain the primary cable and transformer.<br />

For all of NSTAR:<br />

All other construction on private property including the<br />

terminal box, if any, will be installed, owned and<br />

maintained by the customer.<br />

If NSTAR is required to change the location of the pole on<br />

which an underground service originates, the necessary<br />

charges to the underground service shall be at the<br />

customer’s expense.<br />

G. Overhead Area: Riser Pole On Private Property<br />

The primary conduit from the transformer pad to the riser<br />

pole, including the riser on the pole, will be furnished,<br />

installed (NSTAR’s specifications), owned and maintained<br />

by the customer.The primary cable from the transformer<br />

pad to the riser pole will be furnished, installed and<br />

maintained by NSTAR at customer expense.<br />

H. Underground Area:<br />

For the North District:<br />

The primary conduit from the transformer pad to a point<br />

two feet inside the customer’s property line at a point<br />

designated by NSTAR will be furnished, installed, owned,<br />

and maintained by the customer. NSTAR will extend this<br />

conduit to the underground system. NSTAR will install the<br />

first section of the primary cable from the street manhole<br />

to the padmount transformer on private property and<br />

charge the customer for furnishing and installing the<br />

primary cable beyond 2 feet inside the property line. NSTAR<br />

will maintain this portion of the cable at customer expense.<br />

ARTICLE 432-433<br />

For the South and Cambridge Districts:<br />

The customer will install the primary conduit from the<br />

transformer pad to NSTAR’s distribution facility. NSTAR<br />

will install the first section of the primary cable from the<br />

street manhole to the padmount transformer on private<br />

property and may charge the customer for furnishing and<br />

installing the primary cable beyond 2 feet inside the<br />

property line. Contact the NSTAR New Customer<br />

Connect Tech Center to determine ownership and<br />

maintenance of this portion of the installation.<br />

433. Building Vault<br />

This type of private property installation is available in both<br />

overhead and underground distribution areas in the North<br />

District, excluding the Downtown Boston Network District<br />

(for customer vaults in the Downtown Boston Network<br />

District please contact the NSTAR New Customer Connect<br />

Tech Center). A building vault is required when no space is<br />

available outside the building for a padmount transformer.The<br />

customer shall:<br />

A. Provide vault space within the building large enough to<br />

accommodate NSTAR’s transformer(s) and protective<br />

equipment in an area free from moisture and other<br />

contaminants.Where possible, the vault should be located<br />

on outside walls and have an outside entrance door for<br />

easy access.The vault size, grounding, ventilation,<br />

drainage, access and location must be approved by NSTAR<br />

and the authority having jurisdiction, and be in accordance<br />

with Massachusetts Electric Code.<br />
