1. A clear working space area of 3 feet is required in all directions around<br />

the front of all meters, and/or metering cabinets and equipment as<br />

required by Massachusetts Electrical Code to allow reading, testing,<br />

and repairing or replacing of such equipment.<br />

2. All gas meters and associated equipment must be a minimum of 3 feet<br />

from the electrical service and metering equipment.<br />

3. The 8 inch horizontal clearance must be maintained from an adjacent<br />

wall or from any equipment mounted on the wall.<br />

4. Vertical & horizontal clearances between meters must be maintained<br />

when sockets are installed.<br />

5. Taps to 5th terminal to be installed by contractor with a #12 solid<br />

copper or #10 solid aluminum AWG conductor depending on service<br />

conductor, insulated in a white jacket.<br />

1. The entire pedestal including meter socket and service conductors furnished are<br />

owned and maintained by the customer.<br />

2. A clear work area of three feet is required in all directions of the meter pedestal.<br />

3. All terminal boxes to be sized per the Massachusetts Electrical Code<br />

(if applicable).<br />

4. Pedestal must maintain a minimum clearance of 4 feet from utility poles, and<br />

transformers.<br />

5. The 3/4 inch pressure treated or equal plywood panel board shall be sized to<br />

accommodate the meter socket, a terminal box and service disconnect device<br />

(if applicable).<br />

6. A service disconnect may be required in accordance with Massachusetts Electric<br />

Code. If a service disconnect is being installed, it is subject to the following:<br />

a. Installation is subject to the authority having jurisdiction.<br />

b. It shall be installed on the line side of the meter.<br />

c. The bottom of the disconnect switch shall be physically mounted no lower<br />

than three feet from the finished grade.<br />

7. Installation of pedestal subject to the approval of the authority having<br />

jurisdiction.<br />
