507. Unmetered Conductors<br />
Unmetered conductors shall not be installed in the same<br />
raceway with metered conductors. When unmetered<br />
conductors are installed through private basements or other<br />
private areas not containing NSTAR equipment, they shall be<br />
enclosed in a continuous length of exposed rigid raceways or<br />
conduit as required by Massachusetts Electric Code. The<br />
installation of pull boxes, fittings or other similar devices is not<br />
permitted in such areas. In a block of stores, the unmetered<br />
conductors shall be enclosed in a rigid metal raceway or<br />
encased in concrete with the approval of the authority having<br />
jurisdiction.<br />
508. Metered Conductors<br />
Metered conductors from two or more meters shall not be<br />
grouped in one raceway or distribution panel, except by<br />
written permission from NSTAR and as required by<br />
Massachusetts Electric Code.<br />
509. Overcurrent Protection of Feeders<br />
Proper overcurrent protection of feeders shall be required by<br />
the Massachusetts Electrical Code.<br />
510. Fuses<br />
NSTAR does not maintain a stock of fuses for customer-owned<br />
equipment. The contractor or customer shall supply and install<br />
all fuses. On installations where special types of fuses are used<br />
in service equipment, such as high interrupting capacity or<br />
current limiting fuses, it is very important that the customer<br />
maintain a replacement stock of required fuses.<br />

effective ground as required by the Massachusetts Electrical Code.<br />
Three phase, 3 wire Delta connected services shall not be<br />

Mobile Homes: Grounding and bonding of mobile homes is a<br />
special case covered by the Massachusetts Electrical Code.<br />
512. Temporary Service<br />
A service will be considered a “temporary service” unless<br />
permanent service entrance equipment is installed. Unless<br />
otherwise approved by NSTAR in writing, temporary service<br />
shall be defined as any installation intended for removal upon<br />
completion of the job.<br />
The customer shall provide a service entrance which meets the<br />
requirements of a permanent installation with respect to<br />
service drop clearances, metering, grounding and safety.The<br />
service entrance may be installed on a pole set 3 feet or more<br />
in the ground or on a guyed or braced timber structure that<br />
meets the specifications and installation requirements of<br />
NSTAR.Where a 6 inch x 6 inch upright is to be assembled<br />
using three 2 inch x 6 inch planks, these planks should be<br />
bolted together at intervals not exceeding 4 feet. Installation of<br />
such temporary service is subject to the approval of the<br />
authority having jurisdiction. Refer to Article 208 for<br />
installation charges. (See Sketch 12)<br />
511. Bonding Service Equipment<br />
Secondary Services: All secondary services having a grounded<br />
neutral shall have that neutral adequately grounded on the<br />
