1. The above specified clear area distances to buildings or landscaping<br />

shall be maintained to: inspect, provide access, perform switching and<br />

ventilate the transformer.<br />

2. If no curb exists, or transformer is located closer than 10 feet to the<br />

traveled way, protective vehicle posts shall be installed on exposed side<br />

as specified.<br />

3. Vehicle posts shall be 4 inches galvanized steel pipe minimum, filled<br />

with concrete and extend 42 inches above and below grade. Larger<br />

diameter posts may be required for some installation.<br />

4. Contact NSTAR to ensure transformer meets the minimum distances<br />

to doors windows, fire escapes, air intakes and walls.<br />

1. 6 inches X 6 inches timber shall extend into ground a minimum of<br />

3 feet.<br />

2. Service structures for road crossings must be of sufficient height to<br />

maintain an 18 feet minimum road clearance. If drop does not cross<br />

street, clearance may be reduced to 12 feet.<br />

3. All timbers to be sound and free of knots.<br />

4. Minimum of 4-10d nails or larger at each joint.<br />

5. Grounding conductor shall be stapled to timber at frequent intervals.<br />

6. Equivalent structure may be used with the approval of NSTAR.<br />

7. Approved manual bypass required.<br />
