他 們 的 生 活 , 並 開 始 用 本 民 族 的 文 化 去 教 導
年 幼 的 子 女 : 自 強 自 立 、 吃 苦 耐 勞 、 團 結 一
心 、 嚴 守 法 令 法 規 等 大 和 民 族 的 傳 統 美 德 ,
對 Susan 來 說 耳 熟 能 詳 。「 想 要 甚 麼 , 就 必
須 靠 自 己 的 努 力 去 爭 取 , 這 對 我 們 而 言 是 天
經 地 義 的 。」
正 是 這 些 根 植 於 血 脈 中 的 寶 貴 品 格 , 讓
Susan 二 十 年 來 , 在 TFI 中 始 終 扮 演 著 不 可 或
缺 的 角 色 。 這 也 讓 她 堅 信 , 堅 韌 自 律 並 且 有
才 華 的 設 計 師 , 一 定 可 以 在 風 雲 變 幻 的 時 尚
界 找 到 屬 於 自 己 的 位 置 。 而 她 願 意 充 當 一 座
橋 樑 、 一 個 跳 板 , 幫 他 們 越 過 前 進 道 路 上 的
溝 壑 。
成 功 開 拓 TFI 項 目
儘 管 是 一 個 非 營 利 組 織 ,TFI 的 服 務 卻
不 亞 於 任 何 一 個 專 業 級 的 商 務 企 劃 公 司 。 從
瞭 解 行 業 工 業 生 產 , 如 工 業 縫 紉 機 、 打 樣
製 版 機 ; 到 制 定 營 銷 推 廣 策 略 和 利 用 網 絡 資
源 。TFI 提 供 的 每 一 項 幫 助 , 對 初 出 茅 廬 的 年
輕 設 計 師 來 說 , 都 恰 似 一 場 及 時 雨 。 現 在 ,
由 TFI 主 辦 的 「NEW LABELS」 時 裝 秀 和 設 計
大 賽 , 更 成 為 未 來 成 功 設 計 師 的 搖 籃 。 獲 獎
者 不 僅 可 以 得 到 可 觀 的 獎 金 , 還 會 獲 得 經 專
業 包 裝 的 作 品 畫 冊 。 據 統 計 ,TFI 所 開 展 的 項
目 , 以 及 由 此 延 伸 出 的 相 關 領 域 , 目 前 已 創
造 了 超 過 18,000 個 就 業 機 會 。 這 對 Susan 來
講 , 無 疑 是 多 年 付 出 的 最 佳 回 報 。
不 僅 限 於 在 TFI, 生 活 中 的 Susan 也 是 一 個
時 時 處 處 將 「 付 出 」 和 「 給 予 」 作 為 人 生 哲 學
的 人 。 但 她 不 認 可 「 只 要 付 出 , 總 有 一 天 會 有
回 報 」 的 說 法 。 她 說 :「 我 的 付 出 不 是 為 了 回
報 , 而 是 為 了 讓 自 己 成 為 更 好 的 人 , 為 了 能 幫
助 他 人 實 現 他 們 的 人 生 目 標 。」

and was propelled by the prophetic words of her home
economics’ teacher: “You’re going to be the next Christian
Dior.”
As the years progressed, Langdon and her siblings became
inquisitive as to their Japanese culture. They didn’t
want it to be a secret. A cousin studying the families’ history
made the exciting discovery that the family were descendents
of the Samurai.
“They were the noble warriors for the king, and of the utmost
integrity and loyalty. Those two ethics have stayed with
me, and I continue to strive to achieve a high respect in the
industry,” says Langdon.
Her dedication to TFI and efforts to nurture support
and promote new design talent have assisted in launching
the careers of many established designers. Over 18,000
jobs have been created through TFI programs and community
outreach under Susan’s direction.
Because of TFI’s success in job creation and youth entrepreneurship,
there are now more than 30 organisations
located around the world based on the TFI model. Cities
include London, Paris, New York, Milan, San Francisco,
Melbourne and Cape Town.
Langdon has received numerous personal accolades as
well. She was selected as one of the first 12 inductees in
Ryerson University’s Hall of Fame, and given the JoAnna
Townsend Award, honouring one outstanding woman in
Ontario who through her business and personal networks
fosters opportunities that actively support women entrepreneurs
to achieve success in international business.
“I truly believe in the spirit of giving,” says Langdon. “I
don’t believe in the saying that if you give it’s going to
come back to you. I don’t give for that reason. I give to be a
better human being and to help others achieve their goals.”
