Governor Praises
Health Work
In his annual message to the 1927 session of the
General Assembly Governor McLean said of public
health Avork
"North, Carolina's progress in public health
work is one of the State's outstanding achievements,
due largely to the efficient manner in
which our health officials have performed the
tashs cow^mitted to them. The worh of the
State Board of Health has increased to
a rei^tarhable
degree. In my opinion there is no
more profitable investment than that which
looks
toward the prevention and cure of diseases.
Protection of health is not only a
humane thing hut a wise policy from a practical
standpoint. A healthy people is a valuable
asset.
Therefore, North Carolina cannot afford
to take any backioard step. We must see that
this work i^
carried on effectively."
