THE JOURNEY<br />
Day 1 – To Moscow: Transfer to the Marriot<br />
Royal Aurora or similar for 1 night. Welcome<br />
reception and dinner. (D)<br />
Day 10 – Ulan Bator: Morning arrival in Ulan<br />
Bator, the capital of Mongolia. Visit the National<br />
History Museum and eat a barbecue lunch<br />
on the shores of Lake Bailkal. Optional visit to<br />
Gorkhi-Terelj National Park. (B, L, D)<br />
Day 11 – On board: At leisure. (B, L, D)<br />
Day 12 – On board: At leisure. See Siberia<br />
at its most remote and beautiful as the train<br />
enters the region of permafrost. (B, L, D)<br />
Day 13 – On board: At leisure. The most<br />
easterly point of the journey is reached as the<br />
train passes through Khabarovsk. (B, L, D)<br />

Day 2 – Moscow: Full-day tour of Moscow,<br />
including the Kremlin. This afternoon, board<br />
the Golden Eagle for the 12-night journey to<br />
Vladivostok. (B, L, D)<br />
Day 3 – Kazan: Morning arrival in Kazan, the<br />
capital of Tatarstan, and visit the Unesco-listed<br />
Kremlin. (B, L, D)<br />
Day 4 – Yekaterinburg: Cross the <strong>Europe</strong>-Asia<br />
divide and arrive in Yekaterinburg, capital of the<br />
Urals. Visits include the Romanov execution<br />
site. (B, L, D)<br />
Day 5 – Novosibirsk: Stop in Novosibirsk<br />
and visit the Opera House, one of the world’s<br />
biggest, and Lenin Square. (B, L, D)<br />
Day 6 – On board: At leisure. (B, L, D)<br />
Day 7 – Irkutsk: Morning arrival in Irkutsk,<br />
the ‘Paris of Siberia’. See the major sights and<br />
museums. (B, L, D)<br />
Day 8 – Lake Baikal: Pass by Lake Baikal,<br />
the world’s largest freshwater lake. Weather<br />
permitting, a stop will be made for a barbecue<br />
at one of the bays. Continue to Listvyanka, a<br />
small Baikal village. (B, L, D)<br />
Day 9 – Ulan Ude: Morning arrival in Ulan<br />
Ude, capital of the Buryat republic, where<br />
there will be a tour and concert. (B, L, D)<br />
Day 14 – To Vladivostok: Morning arrival.<br />
Take a tour of this once ‘closed’ Russian town<br />
and transfer to the Hotel Hyundai for 1 night.<br />
Farewell dinner at the hotel. (B, L, D)<br />
Day 15 – To London: Transfer to the airport<br />
and fly to London. (B)<br />

Golden Eagle Train<br />
<strong>Travel</strong> in comfort aboard the Golden Eagle<br />
train, which offers Gold and Silver Class<br />
cabins and Imperial suites. Gold Class<br />
cabins are 7 sq metres and feature en<br />
suite bathrooms with power showers and<br />
underfloor heating, DVD / audio systems<br />
and individual climate control. Silver Class<br />
cabins have similar facilities in a more<br />
compact space of 6 sq metres. The Imperial<br />
suite has a space of 11 sq metres and<br />
contains a fixed double bed and lounge<br />
area with dressing table. The Golden Eagle<br />
features a lounge / bar car and a restaurant<br />
car, which serves local delicacies and<br />
international cuisine.<br />
