Explore the cultural centres of both southern<br />

and northern iceland in search of the northern<br />

lights and experience the stunning natural<br />

beauty and wonders of the land of fire and ice.<br />

This short five-day itinerary includes stays in<br />

both Reykjavik and Lake Myvatn, and a visit to<br />

Akureyri, known as the capital of the north.<br />

THE JOURNEY<br />

Day 1 – To Lake Mývatn: Afternoon flight<br />

from London Gatwick to Keflavik International<br />

airport with Iceland Air. Transfer from the<br />

airport to Reykjavik by Flybus shared coach<br />

and stay overnight at the Hilton Hotel. (N)<br />

Day 2 – Lake Mývatn: Morning flight to Akureyri<br />

and transfer to your hotel. This afternoon there<br />

is the opportunity to visit the Lake Mývatn<br />

area, renowned for its beauty and geological<br />

wonders. Stay 2 nights at the Sel Hotel. (B,D)<br />

Day 3 – Lake Mývatn: Optional activities in the<br />

area booked and payable locally through your<br />

accommodation. (B,D)<br />

Day 4 – To Reykjavik: Visit the town of<br />

Akureyri, north Iceland’s trade and cultural<br />

centre, set in a scenic fjord. Fly back to<br />

Reykjavík and stay overnight at the Hilton<br />

Hotel.(B)<br />

Day 5 – To London: Early morning transfer<br />

to Keflavik airport by Flybus shared coach for<br />

your flight back to London with Iceland Air. (B)<br />

icleandic sojourn - self Drive<br />

6 Days / 5 Nights from £1,175<br />

West and southern iceland offer a host of<br />

natural wonders and historical sites, like<br />

Thingvellir, the cornerstone of icelandic<br />

democracy and the oldest parliament in the<br />

world. visit the Gullfoss waterfalls and head<br />

along the south coast via the Westman islands<br />

and see the pompeii of the north. Near the<br />

Eyjafjallajokull glacier, visit the Thoraldseyri<br />

farm visitors centre chronicling the recent<br />

eruption of the volcano and head to the<br />

Dyrholaey headland for stunning panoramas<br />

along the coast. This six-day self-drive tour<br />

includes a stay at the luxury scenic Hotel<br />

Ranga near Hella.<br />

THE JOURNEY<br />

Day 1 – To Reykjavik: Afternoon flight from<br />

London Gatwick to Keflavik International<br />

airport with Iceland Air. Transfer from the<br />

airport to Reykjavik by Flybus shared coach<br />

and stay 2 nights at the Hilton Hotel.(N)<br />

Day 2 – Reykjavik: Day at leisure to explore<br />

the Icelandic capital. Wander around the<br />

Eyjafjallajokull eruption, Hella<br />

historic old centre of Reykjavik with its many<br />

museums, shops and galleries. (B)<br />

Day 3 – To Hella: Pick up your car in the<br />

morning. Drive to Hella via the historic Golden<br />

circle of Thingvellir, Gullfoss and the thermal<br />

area of Haukadalur to see the geysers Stokkur<br />

and Geysir. Stay 3 nights at Hotel Ranga. (B)<br />

Day 4 – Hella: Day at leisure to explore<br />

the southern coast. Visit the spectacular<br />

waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skogarfoss, the<br />

Thoraldseyri Farm Eyjafjallajokull eruption<br />

exhibition as well as the Skogar folk Museum.<br />

Before reaching Vik take the road to isolated<br />

Dyrholaey headland for panoramic views out<br />

to sea and along the coast. (B)<br />

Day 5 – Hella: At leisure or visit the Westman<br />

Islands where the ruins of some of the islands<br />

village houses have been preserved after the<br />

1973 volcanic eruption. (B)<br />

Day 6 – To London: Early departure to Keflavik<br />

airport, where you will return your car and fly<br />

back to London. (B)<br />

please note: The Hotel Ranga is an ideal<br />

place to see the northern lights, a spectacular<br />

phenomenon which, weather permitting, will<br />

be the most visible they have been for 50<br />

years over this winter season. Sightings are not<br />

guaranteed.<br />
