programme integrated gender equality into sexual<br />
and reproductive health via three strategies:<br />
• Providing information and clinical services<br />
for women, information, services and<br />
counselling that helped women identify the<br />
root causes <strong>of</strong> the sexual health problems in<br />
their communities;<br />
• Training community workers to create more<br />
gender-sensitive service agencies and providers,<br />
including teachers, police, judges, church<br />
groups and so on who could develop more<br />
woman-friendly practices;<br />
• Changing gender attitudes in communities<br />
by stimulating public debate on the situation<br />
<strong>of</strong> women through brochures, street theatre,<br />
community meetings and other ways <strong>of</strong><br />
disseminating information.<br />
The programme found that a specific focus<br />
on gender-based violence (particularly when<br />
