Respect<strong>in</strong>g and energiz<strong>in</strong>g people<br />

<strong>Mazda</strong> takes mutual trust and mutual understand<strong>in</strong>g as the basis for its worker / management relations, and believes<br />

that these are vital elements <strong>in</strong> build<strong>in</strong>g its corporate vision.<br />

Keys to Labor-Management relations<br />

<strong>Mazda</strong> has a labor agreement with the <strong>Mazda</strong> Worker's Union, which<br />

guarantees employment stability and ma<strong>in</strong>tenance / improvement of<br />

work<strong>in</strong>g conditions, as well as health and safety. We provide<br />

opportunities for further discussion such as group negotiation and<br />

worker and management conferences, so as to ensure that<br />

communication is always ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed, whatever the bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />

environment may become, and to assist <strong>in</strong> build<strong>in</strong>g mutual trust and<br />

understand<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

The <strong>Mazda</strong> 21st Century Labor- Management Jo<strong>in</strong>t Declaration<br />

At the meet<strong>in</strong>g of the <strong>Mazda</strong> Worker's Union on September 30, 2001,<br />

which was the first such meet<strong>in</strong>g of the 21st century, the Union<br />

adopted the <strong>Mazda</strong> 21st Century Labor- Management Jo<strong>in</strong>t Declaration,<br />

which stated that with<strong>in</strong> a climate of <strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>g global competition, and<br />

society's need for ever higher safety and environmental standards,<br />

<strong>Mazda</strong> is committed to achiev<strong>in</strong>g its corporate vision, and to fulfill<strong>in</strong>g its<br />

role as a member of society, through respect<strong>in</strong>g people and<br />

understand<strong>in</strong>g that each and every one of them is key to the changes<br />

required to become a 'strong and vibrant group organization'. This<br />

understand<strong>in</strong>g was adopted by workers and management alike.<br />

21st Century Labor-Management Vision<br />

As partners, the Company and the Union need to achieve "To excite and delight our customers through the best automotive<br />

products and services," act<strong>in</strong>g cooperatively and <strong>in</strong> harmony for <strong>Mazda</strong> to become the company with a dist<strong>in</strong>ctive presence,<br />

competitiveness, and social value.<br />

Labor-Management Mutual Commitment<br />

(1)Emphasiz<strong>in</strong>g labor-management relations to work toward prosperiy<br />

The Company and the Union will recognize that labor-management<br />

relations is the most important basis for <strong>Mazda</strong>'s existence, with the<br />

keynote of mutual understand<strong>in</strong>g and trust, and will cont<strong>in</strong>ue to make<br />

strong efforts for further prosperity.<br />

(2)Execut<strong>in</strong>g roles of labor-management for change<br />

The Company and the Union will aim to change arduously,<br />

understand<strong>in</strong>g and respect<strong>in</strong>g each other. As a good partner, the<br />

Union will provide constructive proposals for the Company. The<br />

Company will listen to the Union's proposals with s<strong>in</strong>cerity, as well as<br />

promote <strong>in</strong>itiatives for achiev<strong>in</strong>g targets <strong>in</strong> cooperation with the Union.<br />

(3)Mak<strong>in</strong>g efforts to establish attractive and advanced labor conditions<br />

The Company and the Unions will make efforts to establish attractive<br />

and advanced labor conditions equivalent to a company that adopts<br />

the 21st Century Labor-Management Vision as a slogan.<br />

(4)Maximum support for achiev<strong>in</strong>g employee success<br />

The Company and the Union will provide <strong>full</strong> support for employees so that<br />

each employee can achieve their own success, as well as <strong>full</strong>y display their<br />

ability <strong>in</strong> the global bus<strong>in</strong>ess environment.<br />

(5)Deepen<strong>in</strong>g and enhanc<strong>in</strong>g communications with society<br />

The Company and the Union will take positiveaction to have society<br />

understand <strong>Mazda</strong>'s heart and attitude.<br />
