can be compatibly blended with future urban development. The <strong>City</strong> should<br />
maintain contact with school district <strong>of</strong>ficials regarding the potential need for<br />
additional school facilities in this area <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> <strong>and</strong> the opportunity for joint<br />
development efforts.<br />
3. Within District 7, the following trail improvements will be considered:<br />
a. MPTWs along both sides <strong>of</strong> Cedar Avenue will provide trail corridors<br />
through District 7 that may be circuited back into the more fully developed<br />
portions <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> via both existing <strong>and</strong> future streets.<br />
b. Highview <strong>and</strong> Holyoke have been identified in the Comprehensive<br />
Transportation <strong>Plan</strong> as a parkway corridor. Trail components will be an<br />
integral part <strong>of</strong> the parkway design.<br />
c. Future east-west streets will include 185 th Street, 195 th Street, <strong>and</strong> 202 nd<br />
Street. <strong>Trails</strong> will be included in the designs <strong>of</strong> the major streets.<br />
4. Two tributaries flow through District 7. These tributaries, while not specifically<br />
named, are protected by the <strong>City</strong>’s shorel<strong>and</strong> regulations. A third tributary<br />
extends from Cedar Avenue east to the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> Farmington <strong>and</strong> is identified as a<br />
future corridor by the Farmington Park <strong>and</strong> Trail <strong>Plan</strong>. These tributaries provide<br />
opportunity areas for future greenways within District 7.<br />
