Policies - Trail Maintenance <strong>and</strong> Operation:<br />
1. Develop a clear <strong>and</strong> concise system <strong>of</strong> trail graphics <strong>and</strong> signage that directs<br />
people along trails to specific points <strong>of</strong> interest.<br />
2. Post trail safety rules along trails that give instructions on the safe <strong>and</strong> proper<br />
use <strong>of</strong> the trails.<br />
3. Adopt traffic signing to control trail traffic <strong>and</strong> to educate both the motorist <strong>and</strong><br />
trail users as to their relationship in traffic patterns.<br />
4. Provide adequate maintenance <strong>of</strong> trail facilities to insure their availability for use<br />
throughout the year <strong>and</strong> their safe condition for the protection <strong>of</strong> the user.<br />
5. Remove snow from trails within a one mile radius from school facilities.<br />
6. Remove snow from all other trails as established by priority ranking <strong>and</strong> as time<br />
allows.<br />
7. Police trails as necessary in order to maintain user safety.<br />
8. Continue to light all MPTWs along major collector <strong>and</strong> arterial streets <strong>and</strong><br />
greenway corridors.<br />
Public Relations/Community<br />
St<strong>and</strong>ards:<br />
1. Promote citizen interest <strong>and</strong> involvement in the <strong>City</strong>’s park <strong>and</strong> recreation<br />
programs.<br />
2. Educate citizens <strong>and</strong> facility users on the proper use, operation, <strong>and</strong> safety rules<br />
applicable to each system facility.<br />
Policies:<br />
1. Advertise <strong>City</strong> park facilities <strong>and</strong> recreation programs through the <strong>City</strong> newsletter,<br />
brochures, newspapers, web page, hot line, cable television, radio, informational<br />
signs, <strong>and</strong> other available media.<br />
2. Publish a pamphlet that describes the trail routes, parks, playfields, service <strong>and</strong><br />
rest facilities <strong>and</strong> that also includes a map <strong>of</strong> park facilities.<br />
3. Develop a clear <strong>and</strong> concise system <strong>of</strong> trail graphics <strong>and</strong> signage that directs<br />
people along trails to specific points <strong>of</strong> interest.<br />
