senior citizen housing where additional park facilities are required to support<br />
residents within the anticipated service area.<br />
2. Mini-parks will be limited to those residential neighborhoods which cannot be<br />
adequately served by a neighborhood park due to physical limitations or other<br />
constraints such as existing development.<br />
3. Developers may be required to own <strong>and</strong> operate mini-parks to serve their<br />
projects if the neighborhood is <strong>of</strong> medium-to-high density residential <strong>and</strong> not in<br />
close proximity to a neighborhood or community park.<br />
St<strong>and</strong>ards - Greenways/Linear <strong>Parks</strong>/Conservancy Areas:<br />
1. Greenways or st<strong>and</strong>-alone conservancy areas shall be used to conserve <strong>and</strong><br />
manage sensitive natural areas within the community.<br />
2. Greenways areas <strong>and</strong> conservancy areas will include both buildable l<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />
environmentally sensitive areas.<br />
3. Greenways <strong>and</strong> conservancy areas shall preserve the integrity <strong>of</strong> environmental<br />
sensitive areas, such as forests, lakes, streams, wetl<strong>and</strong>s, ponds, prairies, etc.<br />
Management <strong>of</strong> conservancy open space may include substantial restoration <strong>of</strong><br />
lost or deteriorated natural features, as well as techniques for arresting a<br />
retarding environmental degradation through ongoing maintenance.<br />
4. Coordinate greenways <strong>and</strong> conservancy areas with <strong>City</strong> storm water<br />
management systems to preserve natural drainageways <strong>and</strong> wetl<strong>and</strong>s for the<br />
purpose <strong>of</strong> storm water treatment <strong>and</strong> the preservation <strong>of</strong> natural environmental<br />
areas.<br />
5. The establishment <strong>of</strong> linear greenways <strong>and</strong> conservancy areas will serve to<br />
break up urban l<strong>and</strong> use patterns, define neighborhoods <strong>and</strong> preserve open<br />
space.<br />
6. The conservancy areas are intended to provide a diversity <strong>of</strong> natural features to<br />
allow for wildlife habitat. Greenways additionally will facilitate wildlife movement<br />
through areas dominated by human activities. In this respect, the greenways <strong>and</strong><br />
conservancy areas will include both low l<strong>and</strong>s <strong>and</strong> upl<strong>and</strong> areas.<br />
7. The greenway corridors are intended to provide recreational trail opportunities for<br />
<strong>Lakeville</strong> residents to enjoy the natural amenities <strong>of</strong> <strong>Lakeville</strong>.<br />
8. Wherever possible, greenway corridors will be integrated with <strong>Lakeville</strong>’s other<br />
park <strong>and</strong> trail facilities to provide overl<strong>and</strong> trail connections between community<br />
destinations.<br />
9. The greenways <strong>and</strong> conservancy areas shall appeal to a community-wide<br />
population.<br />
