USING AND MANAGING PRODUCT ATTRIBUTES Attributes allow you to create variations on a single product to allow the customer to choose options such as Size and Color, or to allow customers to add extra options to an item. An attribute can also add or subtract from the total cost of the item. For example, you might create an attribute such as: Extra Cheese, add $5. Follow the instructions below to create and apply attributes. 1. Connect to your database using the Store Builder. If you are unsure of how to do this, please refer to Connecting to a Remote or Local Database, page 21, for further instructions. 2. Select the Product Manager. Choose a product to edit, or click New Product. Click on the Attribute tab. 132
User Guide 3. Click Add. Enter the title or name of the attribute in the Attribute Category field. A few examples of Attribute Categories would be Size, Color, or Toppings. 4. Enter the name of the first attribute that will be available under this Attribute Category in the Attributes in Category field. 5. Choose how this attribute will affect the overall price of the item. You have three choices: Increase By: if you choose this option, you can specify an additional cost to be added to the price of the product when this attribute is chosen. Decrease By: if you choose this option, you can specify an amount to be discounted from the price of the product when this attribute is chosen. Same: choosing this option means that this attribute will not affect the price of the product it is added to. 6. Repeat steps three, four, and five as many times as necessary. You can also use your mouse to drag attributes within a category to different positions in their listing, to control what order they display in on product pages. 7. Click Finish to save the new attributes to the database. 133
