StoreFront 5.0 Follow the instructions below to use a custom connection string to connect to a remote database with the StoreFront development tools. 1. Select the development tool you want to use from the StoreFront toolbar or StoreFront drop-down menu of FrontPage. This will cause the Database Connection Dialog Box to appear. 2. Check Use Custom Connection String. This will cause all other options in this menu to become unavailable. Paste your connection string into the field directly below the Use Custom Connection String option. 3. Test the connection string by clicking Test Connection. If the test is successful, click Connect to connect to your database with the selected StoreFront development tool. If the test is unsuccessful, review your connection string and try again or contact StoreFront Support. 24
User Guide The Store Creator The Store Creator provides the development tools necessary to create a StoreFront e-commerce web. This is done by creating a new StoreFront web site using the Web Creation Wizard, or by using the Import Wizard to add StoreFront files to an existing web. The Web Creation Wizard and Import Wizard are described in greater detail in the following sections. THE WEB CREATION WIZARD The Web Creation Wizard can be accessed by clicking the Web Creation Wizard icon of the StoreFront toolbar or drop-down menu. The Web Creation Wizard can be used to create a local StoreFront web. The Wizard will also perform many of the basic configuration tasks necessary for local development, such as creating a database connection and creating a System DSN. The process of creating a new StoreFront web using the Web Creation Wizard is described in detail on page 47. THE IMPORT WIZARD The Import Wizard is a secondary function of the Store Creator. It can be accessed by clicking the Store Creator icon of the StoreFront toolbar, then selecting Import Wizard. The Import Wizard will add StoreFront files to any web site that can be accessed through FrontPage. tor 25
