StoreFront 5.0 System Requirements StoreFront is a client/server application with separate sets of system requirements for each. In this case, the client is the local PC you will be installing the StoreFront program on. In the client/server relationship, the server is the computer that responds to the requests of the client. You will use the StoreFront development tools from your local client machine to develop and manage the site that is hosted on the remote server. Both sets of system requirements are listed below. CLIENT MACHINE (DEVELOPMENT) The first part of StoreFront is the application that is installed on your local machine, which includes the StoreFront development tools (these are the StoreFront Store Builder, Store Management tools, and the Store Creator tools, accessible from the StoreFront Toolbar of FrontPage 2000). These tools use the resources of your client machine. The client machine (your PC) must meet the following requirements: · Windows 2000/95/98, Millennium Edition or Windows NT · 32 MB of RAM · 8 MB hard disk space · Recommend: Microsoft® Personal Web Server, Peer Web Services or Internet Information Server 4.0 or 5.0 · Support for Active Server Pages · 32 bit ODBC Microsoft Access, SQL Server, or Oracle Driver support · FrontPage 2000 · MDAC version 2.5 or higher WEB SERVER (HOSTING) The second part of StoreFront consists of the StoreFront application files that actually reside in your web site. These files compose the e-commerce application that customers interact with as they place orders on your site. This part of StoreFront draws on the resources of the remote server. The server must meet the following requirements: · NT or Windows 2000 Server running Internet Information Server 4.0 or above. · Support for Active Server Pages 8
User Guide · ODBC Microsoft Access or SQL Server support. · A StoreFront-compatible mail component (see page 62). · Support for MSADC Service (see page 45). · Support for Carrier-Based Shipping methods requires the installation of the StoreFront UPS/FEDEx and USPS Components on the host server. · SSL support. · Payment Processing Services (see page78) used to process credit card transactions may require the installation of software or components on the server. This additional software is not included with StoreFront, and should be obtained through the service provider. Payment Processors and their requirements are discussed in greater detail at www.StoreFront.net/software/support/sf5payprocs.htm. · Windows NT 4 Servers must have the most recent version of the Java Virtual Machine installed. · Internet Explorer 4.0 or above. Installing StoreFront 5.0 Follow the instructions below to install StoreFront 5.0 on your PC. FROM A DOWNLOAD 1. Close all applications. 2. Double-click the executable (.exe) file that you downloaded from StoreFront.net. 3. Enter your Product ID code when prompted. You should be able to find this in the email you received from sales@storefront.net when you were authorized for your download. 4. Proceed with the installation. The StoreFront 5.0 Help Files will open when the installation is finished. Open FrontPage 2000 and review the help files and this manual to begin learning how to use StoreFront 5.0. FROM A CD 1.
