StoreFront 5.0 The first step in configuring your web, prior to building an inventory and designing pages, is to set the business rules that will govern the way the site runs. This includes tax settings, accepted forms of payment, the way that shipping charges for orders will be calculated, what locales the store will accept orders from, and the currency type that will be used in the store. You must complete all of these configuration tasks before your site will function correctly. Please review the following sections for more information. Configuring State and Country Tax Rates StoreFront 5.0 supports tax rate calculation for an unlimited number of states, countries, and provinces. Although taxation as it applies to e-commerce is still an evolving issue, it is likely that most of your webs will have to charge tax in one form or another. Check with your Chamber of Commerce for more information. 1. Connect to your database using the Store Builder. If you’re unsure of how to do this, please refer to Connecting to a Remote or Local Database, page 21 for further instructions. 2. Open the Web Manager. Click on the Tax tab. 3. Select a country or state from the Supported Countries and Supported States lists. If the country or state that you want to set a tax rate for is not present, you can add countries and states to the list of Supported Shipping Destinations, then return to the Tax tab to set tax rates for the new countries and states. Please see Selecting Supported Shipping Destinations, page 59, for more information about adding countries and states to these lists. 54
User Guide 4. When you click on a country or state name, the current tax rate for the selection will appear in the field to the right of the country or state list. To change the tax rate for a country or state, enter the desired tax rate in the field, then click Set. Tax rates should be entered as a decimal percentage of 1. A tax rate of 6.25%, for example, should be entered as .0625. Do not enter a % sign in these fields. 5. After setting the tax rate for a state or country, check the checkbox to the left of the selection’s name to activate the tax rate. 6. You can deactivate a tax rate by unchecking the checkbox to the left of a country or state’s name. 7. You can modify a tax rate by selecting the country or state you wish to modify, then changing its rate. Click Set to save the changes in the database. This will complete the configuration of your tax rates. You can change a tax rate or add a new tax at any time by returning to this interface. Configuring ezeehelp Support Ezeehelp is a third party service provided by ezeehelp, Ltd. By establishing an account with ezeehelp, Ltd., you can make ezeehelp links appear on the StoreFront pages throughout your site. When a customer clicks on one of these links, it will activate an HTML-based customer service chat application that will allow the customer to speak directly to yourself or an ezeehelp service representative. Ezeehelp offers several different service plans to suit a variety of operations; visit www.EzeeHelp.com for more information. Follow the instructions below to configure your site to make ezeehelp available to your customers. 1. Establish an account with ezeehelp, Ltd. at www.ezeehelp.com/storefront/. Once the account is established, you will be provided with an ezeehelp login ID. 2. Connect to your database using the Store Builder.
