StoreFront 5.0 2. Once the local web is open in FrontPage, click the Web Creation Wizard icon of the StoreFront toolbar. Select Import StoreFront Files into an existing web. 3. If you are using StoreFront AE or XE, you will be asked whether you wish to import Access or SQL files. If you are using an Access database in this web, choose MS Access. If you are using a SQL database in this web, choose MS SQL. 4. When the Import Wizard is finished running, contact your host and request that they create a System DSN mapped to the storefront.mdb file in the fpdb folder of your web site. If you are using a SQL Server database, ask the host to map a DSN to your database on the SQL Server. Also ask that your host create the MSADC service. A description of the MSADC service and how it is created can be found under Creating the MSADC Service, page 45. 5. Configure a database connection according to the instructions under Creating a Database Connection, page 43. 42

If you are using an Access database, also request that the host allow the Everyone and IUSR accounts to have Modify or Change permission on the fpdb folder and the files that it contains. 7. If you are using a SQL Server database you will have to create the database by upsizing a StoreFront 5.0 Access database. Please refer to the upsizing guide in the Knowledge Base on www.StoreFront.net. This will complete the creation and minimal configuration of the remote web. You can test the site’s basic functionality by opening a browser and entering the URL of your web in the address window, followed by /search.asp; i.e. http://www.yourweb.com/search.asp. If search.asp loads correctly, then you have an active database connection in your site. Also attempt to connect to the remote database using one of the StoreFront development tools. If you connect successfully, this indicates that the MSADC Service and System DSN are functioning correctly. CREATING A DATABASE CONNECTION The ASP pages in your web must be able to communicate with your database in order for StoreFront to function properly. Follow the steps below to create a database connection in your web. 1. Open your web in FrontPage. You can do this by clicking on File, then Open Web. In the Folder Name field, enter the URL to your web site on the live server or local machine. 2. After the web opens, click Tools, then select Web Settings. 3. Click on the Database tab.
