Provide travel training and information to helppassengers (e.g., elderly, disabled individuals) access and use the fixed-route system and other transportation services.Encourage private employers to provide shuttle service to intermodal facilities.Preserve sufficient acreage along freight rail lines and at key freight terminals (including Port <strong>of</strong> Providence, Quonset Davisville, T.F.Green, and Port <strong>of</strong> Galilee to accommodate intermodal transfers.Study improved access to the Port <strong>of</strong> Providence from the Interstate system and rail improvements within the terminal area.Coordinate and support efforts to consolidate baggage and passenger security screening for multi-modal trips where feasible.Integrate and pursue the recommendations from the following studies: Rail Corridor Study, Waterborne Passenger <strong>Transportation</strong>Study, Aquidneck <strong>Island</strong> West Side <strong>Transportation</strong> Guide Plan and Passenger Rail / Bike Path Study, RIPTA study on coordination <strong>of</strong>fixed-route and paratransit services, South County Commuter Rail Study, and Commercial Vehicle Parking Needs Study.Increase use <strong>of</strong> Park and Ride lots from a system-wide average <strong>of</strong> 62% in 2007 by 3% per year.Note: Park and Ride lots are also used by individuals who are carpooling.
