ITS and landscaping.With that said, sixty-seven percent (67%) favored increasing the gas tax, and are also in favor <strong>of</strong> the proposal to increase the registration fees on SUVs andtrucks (39%), especially if that funding is used for transportation (49%).When we asked them how should we improve our roadways, they answered, with:1. more sidewalks and bike lanes2. roundabouts3. more signage.Then we asked how to improve the appearance <strong>of</strong> our roads. They said,1. more landscaping2. fewer billboardsFinally we asked respondents why they live were they live. Their neighborhood was the primary attraction, with affordability and proximity to work comingsecond and third.A land use question and future living location rounded out this section. People who chose to answer said that commercial and residential growth should bedirected to urban or downtown locations with villages and mixed-use locations second. This includes existing and new centers. We asked where they wouldmove to next given the choices <strong>of</strong> 1. rural, large lot suburban, 2. traditional small lot neighborhood, 3. village with mixed use or 4. downtown or urban? Theresults were thirty-three percent (33%) to a downtown or urban setting and twenty-nine percent (29%) to a village with mixed use.
