Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI) products <strong>for</strong> which government acceptedindustry <strong>for</strong>mat standards are acceptable.d. Still and motion audiovisual products shall con<strong>for</strong>m to the product standards set <strong>for</strong>th inthe Society <strong>for</strong> Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) standard <strong>for</strong>Television Analog Recording - ½ inch Type L - Electrical Parameters, Control Code andTracking Control.e. Sharable Content Objects (SCO) as specified by the contract.f. Digital audiovisual products shall comply with the JTA.4.3.8.1 When to specify page-based <strong>for</strong>mat <strong>for</strong> training data products. As a general rule,page-based <strong>for</strong>mat should be specified when:a. Less than 50 percent <strong>of</strong> the content <strong>of</strong> existing page-based training products are beingupdated/modified.b. No s<strong>of</strong>tware exists <strong>for</strong>, or will be available to produce instructional materials from thestandard digital data.c. Re-use and/or life-cycle maintenance <strong>of</strong> training materials is not desired.4.3.8.2 When to specify standard digital data <strong>for</strong>mat <strong>for</strong> training data products. If theGovernment user activity has implemented more advanced computer systems and RDBMSs<strong>of</strong>tware, processable standard digital data files with tables that are developed in accordance withthe DDDS should suffice. As a general rule, standard digital data should be specified when:a. The potential <strong>for</strong> re-use <strong>of</strong> training data exists.b. A need exists <strong>for</strong> interoperability <strong>of</strong> standardized data between/among Services,academia, industry organizations, plat<strong>for</strong>ms, and/or programs.c. Training management system (e.g., courseware management, configuration management)that con<strong>for</strong>ms to the DDDS requirements exists or is planned.4.3.8.3 When to specify both page-based and standard digital data <strong>for</strong>mats <strong>for</strong> training dataproducts. Requirements <strong>for</strong> training data product deliverables may include both composeddocuments in digital <strong>for</strong>m and processable data files. However, until more advancedGovernment systems are available, it may be necessary to accept a hard copy (paper) trainingdata product <strong>for</strong> approval, reproduction, and distribution, and a digital <strong>for</strong>m <strong>of</strong> the document <strong>for</strong>archiving or update and maintenance. It is recommended that both page-based and standarddigital data <strong>for</strong>mats should be specified when:11
